Following on from the 255/40 R19 tyre test, the Russian magazine Auto Review have tested 16 tyres in the far more common 205/55 R16. The twist this year is the inclusion of what Auto Review call "second line tyres", which are mid range brands which are manufactured by the premium brands.

This years Auto Express summer tyre test is probably the closest test we've seen, and with all 8 tyres within 2% of each other overall even a slight change in the weighting of the test categories would dramatically change the overall result!
As usual, Auto Express have focused on the more popular size of 205/55 R16 91H, with this years test vehicle being FWD Skoda Octavia. The test was conducted at Bridgestones test facility in the south of Italy, and covered the usual thorough array of tests, including 5 wet tests, 2 dry tests plus noise and rolling resistance tests.

With Spring in the air, ADAC have just published their massive 2011 Summer tyre test covering 33 tyres! This year they've chosen to test two smaller sizes of tyres, 195/65 R 15 V and 175/65 14 T. While these tyre sizes are slightly more relevant to the European market compared to the big-wheel obsessed UK, it's still a good indication of who's doing well in 2011.
