Our Mission
Tyre Reviews exists to give every driver access to the same quality of tyre performance data that was once only available to industry insiders. When Jonathan Benson founded the platform in 2006, independent tyre information barely existed online. Consumers had no reliable way to compare products before buying - and the consequences of a poor tyre choice are measured in safety critical factors such as braking distances, not just money.
That problem drove the creation of the world's first user-generated tyre review platform, and it still drives everything we do today. Nearly two decades later, Tyre Reviews has grown into the world's most-visited independent tyre testing resource. We combine scientific comparative testing at professional proving grounds with a huge database of real-world driver feedback - over 6 billion miles of user-submitted tyre data covering every major brand.
Our websites serve drivers across Europe and North America in multiple languages, and our YouTube channel has become the most-watched tyre content globally, with over 76 million views, 285,000 subscribers, and an average of 400,000 views per video.
Recognised by the Industry
The strongest measure of an independent tester's credibility is whether the industry itself treats their results as authoritative. Six of the world's largest tyre manufacturers cite Tyre Reviews test results on their official websites - placing our work alongside established European automotive publications including Auto Bild, ADAC and evo.
Michelin
Lists Tyre Reviews as an official independent test source on michelin.co.uk, alongside Auto Bild, ADAC and evo. Displays "Tyre Reviews - Highly Recommended" badges on product pages.
Continental
Directly quotes founder Jonathan Benson by name in corporate press releases - the highest form of individual endorsement from a global manufacturer.
Pirelli
Creates dedicated editorial pages on pirelli.com for each Tyre Reviews test victory, and issues formal press releases through press.pirelli.com.
Goodyear
Maintains a dedicated Tyre Reviews awards page on their European website, with collaborative educational content featuring Jonathan Benson across 26+ country-specific pages.
Hankook
Displays Tyre Reviews award badges - Test Winner, Highly Recommended - on product pages across every country domain, from the US and Germany to Poland, Italy, France and beyond.
Nokian Tyres
References Tyre Reviews on test success pages and product listings, describing us as "one of the most trusted voices in tyre reviewing."
Major European tyre retailers including Black Circles, Halfords and National Tyres also integrate our award badges and test results into their product listings.
How We Test Tyres
Our testing methodology is built on the same scientific principles used by major tyre manufacturers and European automotive test publications. Jonathan Benson trained with multiple tyre manufacturers before establishing Tyre Reviews' independent testing programme, and every test is designed to produce repeatable, comparable results.
Professional Proving Grounds

All comparative tests are conducted at professional proving grounds - purpose-built facilities with controlled surfaces, precision water delivery systems for wet testing, and calibrated measurement infrastructure. We test at facilities across the World, including Utah Motorsports Campus in the United States where Tyre Reviews has a base for American high performance, track and off-road testing.
Precision Instrumentation

We measure braking distances, lateral grip, handling response, aquaplaning resistance, noise levels, comfort, rolling resistance and tread wear using calibrated equipment. Every data point is recorded and published transparently alongside subjective driving assessments.
All-Condition Coverage

We test in dry, wet, snow, ice and off-road conditions to evaluate tyres across the full range of environments drivers face. Summer, winter, all-season and all-weather tyres are each tested in the conditions that matter most to their intended use.
Anonymous Purchasing

Where possible, we purchase all test tyres anonymously at retail to ensure manufacturers cannot provide optimised samples. When tyres are supplied directly, we randomly cross-check against retail stock to verify consistency.
How We Maintain Independence
The credibility of our testing depends on editorial independence. Our business model is structured to protect it:
No pay-for-play. We have never accepted payment for a review or test result, and we never will.
Anonymous purchasing. Test tyres are bought anonymously at retail wherever possible. When tyres are supplied, we cross-check against retail stock.
Separated operations. Advertising and editorial are completely separated. Affiliate links never influence rankings or recommendations.
Industry-validated independence. The strongest evidence of our independence is that the world's largest tyre manufacturers - Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, Goodyear and Hankook - cite our results on their official websites. These companies would not reference a source they believed they could influence.
