How to read a tyre size
Every tyre size follows the same pattern, moulded into the sidewall: 225/40 R18 means the tyre is 225 mm wide, its sidewall height is 40% of that width, and it fits an 18 inch wheel.
After the size come the load index and speed rating, e.g. 92 Y. Your car's correct sizes are printed on a plate inside the driver's door frame or in the handbook. Tyre size calculator →
