225/45 R18 Tyre Review Highlights

These are great tires! The Bridgestone and Goodyear all seasons I had on my car previously felt like garbage compared to these, both in handling feedback and overall grip, but they lasted a bit longer. I can't notice much of any difference between these in the wet and the dry, although in colder temperatures (20F and below mainly) they do lose enough grip that I'm able to notice it. They're worthless in the snow which isn't surprising for a summer performance oriented all season but the Crossclimate 2's that are on my parents Subaru grip better around corners and feel better at the steering wheel also. Even a little bit of slush is enough to break these loose, but they don't ever make you feel out of control which is nice.
I have Hawk HPS pads on my car which bite very hard for a street pad, but I still haven't had ABS engage during hard emergency braking situations with these tires. They are great when cornering hard, and when they break loose its never a surprise, unlike a lot of other tires that feel perfectly fine in a corner until they lose grip out of nowhere. They also snap back into grip very easily with small corrections, so they are very fun to push the limits with when you get the chance. They do transmit small road imperfections very well which isn't the nicest thing on the street (for some reason even the stress relief breaks in concrete pavement really makes these vibrate at highway speeds but they're fine on asphalt at the same speeds) but ends up being very helpful other times. They are also pretty loud depending on the road surface. They only lasted me 25,000 miles but that's including some pretty hard driving and occasional track use.

I fitted these on my 320d (F31) in december last year, they performed surprisingly well in the harsh winterconditions we had. The tires also performed well on dry roads and higer Autobahn speeds (160-200kmh). The road feedback is good for a allseason tire, im am happier than with the Vredestein quadtrac pro plus which seemed squisher. I am interested on how they will perform on warmer days in the summer. No signs of wear could be noticed at this point.

I've had these tires on my 2026 Tiguan and the first impressions are very underwhelming. At very low speeds (residential roads), the car is constantly losing the back end in slow speed corners. I would not feel confident that in the event of a highway speed situation, that I would lose the car completely. My previous Hakkapeliitta SUV (non-studded winter) were lightyears ahead of these tires.

Grip was awful, couldn't hook for anything. The wear was very slow though.

Had difficulty finding good winters for my 18x8 wheels and made the mistake of settling for these. I've had a great experience with nitto for my summer tires. But don't make the same mistake as I did and expect these to be particularly good in snow. They're an adequate all season tire. No more.
Good for a commuter in a moderate climate. But here in Minnesota they've been a bit sketchier that I would have liked.

Writing about the Nitto NeoGen
rated 68%
I live in a northern climate where summer tires are rarely a priority. But as an enthusiast, I wanted to find a performance option that could handle the wet of our spring and fall seasons. The neo gen fits that niche fabulously. Responsive, good road feel, and decent grip. But they really shine in the wet. Which gives me the confidence to enjoy the drive every day despite the weather.
The cons are road noise and comfort. So definitely more for enthusiasts than a typical commuter. I'd recommend them for a quick, fun, daily driver like my focus ST. As an added bonus, I think they look great too.

Writing about the Yokohama Advan dB V552
rated 77%
The Advan dB came as the factory tyre on my Mazda3 BP. Mazda’s engineers have been pretty clear about their approach with the BP: they wanted stiffer bushings paired with a more deflecting sidewall compared to the last-generation Mazda3, so the suspension stays controlled while the tyre sidewall does the work of damping out bumps.
As a touring tyre, it’s just about OK dynamically—soft sidewalls and calm responses that suited the chassis as intended. Push on a bit and the Mazda3 shows some entry and mid-corner understeer, and the tyre wallows a bit like you’d expect from a touring tyre, but it’s progressive, predictable, and still easy to read at the limit. Outright grip is fine for what it is.
The Advan db is very comfortable tyres. It’s quite absorbent over very bumpy road in my city and fits Mazda’s engineering approach well—keeps the ride settled and quiet. In the wet, it’s decent and safe, but feels inferior next to more sporty tyres like the Michelin PS5 I had on other cars.
For daily commuting, it does the job and complements the car’s sporty yet refined for its class well enough. But I wanted a bit more sportiness from my tyre so the move to a soft-sidewall performance tyre like the Michelin PS5 or Continental MC7 is next on the list.

Where the Advan db live up to the standard is comfort. It’s quite absorbent over terrible road surfaces in my city and fits Mazda’s engineering approach—keeps the ride settled and quiet. In the wet, it’s decent and safe, but feels average next to newer, more sporty tyres like the Michelin PS5 I had on other cars.

Writing about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6
rated 70%
I've ran the eagle f1 asymmetric 5's for the last few years, they were fantastic tyres, great in the dry, decent in the wet and were good to drive from cold. I've ran the 6's for over 6k miles and disliked them since the beginning, take too long to warm up, huge amounts of road noise and feedback, and feel loose in any sort of wet weather, a huge disappointment from the 5's.
