MG ZT 135 CDTi Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Continental Sport Contact 5 given 83% (225-45-18-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 22000 average miles
I used these for 22k miles on the front of my car in all weathers. Grip is excellent in all conditions. They were noticeably quieter than the Michelin tyres they replaced too. The only fault I can find is that they wore out far short of what I would expect and see from other brands. The treadwear rating is very low.

Run for 20k miles on a 2005 MG ZT CDTi. Tyre wear was awful. Only 20k miles from a pair of tyres, even in this price range us bad. Dry grip was below average. In the wet, there is little road feedback and they aquaplane for fun. Save up and buy something better than these.

Sensational tyres with performance, personality and quality. Second to none I'd most certainly buy these tyres again and highly recommend them for cost price alone, then if you factor in the other benefits you'll be delighted all round

Driving on mostly motorways for 20000 average miles
Excellent tyres with great grip and handling and in comparison to other tyres I was using in the past these have a great wear, too. I was able to drive 20,000 miles (32,000 km) while I was never able to make more than 25-26,000 km on other tyres. This was the first time I wanted to buy the same tyres again, but then found out that Dunlop has come with the next generation SportMaxx RT2 so I decided to buy those. We will see if it will be the same good as SportMaxx RT ;-) Thumb up, Dunlop!

Driving on mostly motorways for 12000 average miles
I've been using these tyres for around 12,000 miles (19,000 km) in the last 7 seasons (I try to use summer tyres as much as possible) and they were great when they were new. While getting older, they've become quite noisy what affected the driving comfort especially on longer distances on motorways. Also, the fuel consumption was a bit higher than I would expect. Other than that, I had no problem with grip on any kind of surface, handling is good as well as the road feedback. However, I will try different tyres next time.

Driving on a combination of roads for 1200 spirited miles
Very impressed with these tyres, more than adequate for my MG ZT-T. Great overall feel in all conditions, Vredestein seem to have done a very good job of creating a good all round tyre that has no drawbacks. They grip, wet and dry, ride well for this type of tyre yet give plenty of feefback to the driver and as a bonus are quiet too. Well done Vredestein, this seems to be the only tyre that I've ever had that does everything exceptionally well, and to top it off, at a good price too. Would I buy again? I'd be a fool not to, no matter what brand I've had in the past, I've never been so pleased with my purchase.

I have had two full sets of these 225 45 18 tyres, first set covered 35,000 miles, very good, second set much the same, handle very well but tended to break away on hard cornering, will buy and just have again.

Driving on mostly town for 200 average miles
Brought Mg ZT cheap.Could not keep it in straight line .Steering pulling all over place on back roads.
Had steering alignment checked - dead straight .
Had track rod ends steering joints checked - not a problem.
Changed cheap tyres which had 5mm tread left.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE AVON ZZ5 have made.
I cannot tell you how happy i am .
Thought I would have to spend loads on parts to make this car safe.

Just one drawback I can mention in relation to this tyre - sliding effect in the wet condition on turning or on roundabout. On the straight with speed over 60m/h absolutely no any concerns. I've done 60k miles so far and still have 3mm - not bad.

To the reviewer stating there's nothing wrong with these tyres, you must drive a 1.0L on dry straight roads all day!
I bought a set of wheels that came with these tyres. All 6mm tread. At the time it was dry and the tyres were not too bad. But to my surprise one wet and windy day, I was able to spin my front wheels in 2nd and 3rd gear! These tyres are not made for wet. They are poor. Road noise is also very bad due to these Chinese death rings being so hard.

Would I buy again? No way.

Put two of these on rear of my MGZT to replace Kumho K39's. Very pleased with them so far and will now put another two on the front. Excellent value and quality at an outstanding price
