This is only an initial review of the tyres since purchase and fitment, I will carry out a further review at a later date with more real driving experience and data.
The tyres replaced a nearly new set of Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season primarily because I drive in Europe and needed the 3 peak accreditation.
The car is a heavy plug in hybrid 4x4 so the tyres needed to be reinforced (104w), and my driving style in sporty driving..
Recent heavy rain has shown the tyres to excel the OEM Pirelli and it has brought about a renewed wet weather confidence.
Dry weather handling appears to be equal to the the OEM Pirelli but I find the Vredestein just a tad softer in the corners, nothing unnerving or worrying but something I need to get use to..
Ignore my scores for snow and ice grip as they will be reassessed following a business trip over the French Alps and throughout Belgium and France in late November.
Noise and comfort, very noticeably quieter than the OEM Pirelli tyre especially when in EV mode, comfort has improved probably due to slightly softer compound.
Rolling resistance, too soon to report on but after checking, the OEM Pirelli are B rated and the Vredestein are C rated for rolling resistance, so I may loose a percentage or two of range / fuel economy.
My overall thoughts, I will be honest and say I had never heard of Vredestein prior to my research for replacement all season tyres to meet European winter tyre standards and was a tad skeptical about changing from a world leading manufacturer Pirelli..
My first choice tyre was the Pirelli Scorpion SF3 but I didn’t want the aggressive V shaped tread pattern, no real reason why just a visual preference..
Initial thoughts are they are a premium tyre, wet weather driving has noticeably improved, dry weather needs more mileage and I may have to adjust my driving style a little to accommodate the slightly softer compound but nothing of any detriment.
Looking forward to seeing how they cope with proper European winter driving and possibly some snow.
One last thing, despite all the hype about the sidewall design, it looks a tad muted to me so should blend in with most cars without concern.
I will report back at the end of the year…
