Falken ZIEX ZE320

The Falken ZIEX ZE320 is a sporty-leaning summer premium touring tyre that blends confident handling with impressive wet and dry grip. Across driver feedback and independent testing it stands out for its wet handling composure, strong dry braking and generally refined comfort levels. It regularly performs near the front of the class for dynamics, offering strong value for a mid-range brand. The main caveats are some inconsistency in wet braking/aquaplaning performance and only average efficiency.

Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Posted the fastest times in both wet and dry handling, demonstrating excellent grip and balance. Near the top of the pack for noise levels with good overall refinement.
Struggled with curved aquaplaning, posting the worst result in test. Higher than average rolling resistance impacts, though the group was very close.
Falken keeps improving with each new tyre, and the ZE320 shows they can compete with the premium brands. The handling performance in both wet and dry was impressive, but the curved aquaplaning performance suggests there's still room for improvement.

The new Falken immediately emerged as a stand‑out performer. The Ziex delivered unexpectedly high sporting capability while remaining well balanced and comfortable. In handling tests it guided the VW T‑Cross with “stoic calm” through corners and avoided any pushing or wobbling, giving drivers plenty of confidence and driving pleasure. This blend of agility, stability and comfort earned it overall victory.

Based on 7 user reviews

Most drivers rate the Falken ZIEX ZE320 highly for strong dry and wet grip, confident handling, and generally low noise, positioning it as a sporty-leaning touring tyre with good value. Comfort is praised by several users, though one hybrid owner reports intrusive high-pitch noise and a harsh, hollow feel. Wear feedback is mixed but limited: one mid-score review reports fast front wear, while others note early days or acceptable longevity. A few note increased fuel consumption versus competitors, but overall sentiment is strongly positive.

Drive a full set for about 3000km, mixed Romania roads with highways.
They are silent vs Firestone Roadhawk I used before these.

These tyres have given good grip both wet and dry. The steering response is better than other previous brands. So far they are lasting well and with the added advantage of an accidental damage guarantee offer great value for money. I will be buying these again when they have worn out.

Latest Falken ZIEX ZE320 Reviews

Given 82% while driving a Toyota Corolla (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
My Corolla Hybrid Sedan 2023 came with Falken Sincera SN832B from factory. This was my first contact with this brand (look for my review). I was so happy with them and from the brand positive reviews from others that i fitted the newer model SN110 to my Yaris hybrid and i was pleased too (look for my review). Then this summer and after 30.000 km (they easily can last 10.000km more), i decided to put the all new ZE320. The first impressions were not so good. There was a permanent high pitch humming noise to every surface from the moment that i fitted them! This was the reason that i changed them so early. Maybe with a conventional petrol engine the noise can be hidden but with my hybrid the noise was very loud! Also the tire felt ...hollow. I mean when the car pass over imperfections of the road, the sound was not pleasant but like there was not so much material in them. I think they wanted to make it very light and they succeed as the rolling resistance was very low! I lifted the foot from the pedal and the car kept going and going. This is a touring sport tyre but 70% on the sport side. You can feel confidence with them when cornering in a spirited mood as they reminded me my previous Mazda MPS 3! So not a balanced tyre but a sportier one. Dry and wet were excellent. As for the comfort not so much. Yes they feel like they glide on the road but again the feeling is not good as they read the micro imperfections of the road and this ruined the zen style of my hybrid car. Conclusion: The tires are excellent for those that have sport cars or they want a touring but on the sporty side tyre for their vehicle. For hybrids is a big NO! I changed them with Michelin Primacy 5 that suits way better to the character of my hybrid car (i will review this tyre soon).

Given 82% while driving a Nissan Note (195/55 R16) on mostly town for 1,000 average miles
Recently replaced all four tyres on a 2014 Nissan Note 1.2DIG-S that I have recently acquired. The vehicle previously had a mix of cheap Chinese brand tyres [of which two were quite worn and two had had previous puncture repairs] Used a local independent tyre fitting shop who have good reviews and chose mid-range Falken Ziex ZE320. These appear to be a good mid-range choice [so far] Noise levels are definitely lower and grip/handling in both wet and dry conditions has improved over the previously fitted tyres. I have used these both in normal local driving and some longer distance motorway drives and some driving on rural roads in Devon. Advertised tyre ratings for this tyre are 'C' for fuel economy, 'A' for wet grip and noise levels at 68dB.
As this is an initial review, I haven't commented on wear as it's too early to comment really but I thought it was worth putting up a review as this is a relatively new model of Falken tyre only being released in Summer 2024.

Use this set to replace my Goodyear efficient performance 2. the dry grip is impressive when compare to the Goodyear. been under heavy rain a few times and the wet grip is comparable with the Goodyear. However the fuel consumption is significantly worse then Goodyear with a motorway fuel consumption from ~64 mpg to 60mpg

It's worth keeping in mind that the fuel consumption of a new tyre will be significantly worse than at worn state, so it's natural to drop fuel consumption when swapping from old to new tyres, even if they have the same label rating.
