Kumho Ecsta Sport PS72
WatchThe Kumho Ecsta Sport PS72 is a max-performance summer tyre that delivers near-premium levels of grip and confidence for a mid-range price. Real-world drivers and independent tests align on strong wet and dry traction, reassuring braking, and stable, predictable handling at speed. Where it's less convincing is in standing-water security, with aquaplaning resistance repeatedly trailing key rivals, and some reports of refinement issues. Overall, it's a standout value choice if you prioritise grip and steering confidence over ultimate wet-water evacuation and polished ride quality.

Hi, this new ultra high performance summer tire from Kumho has shown very good results (performing on the same level as conti SC7. Unfortunately PS72 Ecsta sport hasn't got many reviews yet and not to mention the nokian powerproof 1 will also be manufacutred by Kumho Tire Europe GmbH, would you recommend choosing either of these two tires as a staggered setup on a BMW F31 rear-wheel drive ?

They are not loud, but wouldn't they are necessarily quiet. You can hear them a bit depending on the road surface and speed.
Didn’t drive them too much in the rain, but seem to hold pretty well in wet conditions.
Mounted them in march this year and after 10-15k km I don’t see any major wear, but I would have to abstain on this one until I get them properly measured.
All in all, very good value tyres and they looks preety good on my car
This tyre is much more quiet (while label say 72dB), much more comfy on harsh roads (in here in Czechia), petrol consumption is lover.
Now question about handling. It's new tyre, so it takes time to sit, but first impressions are great. Grip is comparable to CSC5 and other premium tyres. Gives not much response as my previous tyre Potenza RE002 that I had for few hundreds kms. But still, handling is amazing. On curved roads, in city streets and roundabouts they're really great and fun to drive. I'm much more confident and can cut same corners and roundabouts in higher speeds than with previous tyres. And quietly without squeak.
This summer isnt much rainy, so I have not much reference for wet conditions, but for that minimum that I drove in wet, it's ok. Grips firmly, turns easily and ride without wheel spin or warning light on dashboard.
I also tried higher speeds in motorway, it's calm and quiet, holding straight line easily and without vibrations (from tyres).
Thats my first impressions. Even it's low cost tyre, it's really great and premium tyre brand beater.
Everything is great with the tires except i have annoying vibrations between 100-120 km/h.
Just got them re-balanced but it did not solve the problem. My other rims and winter tires run smooth so its not the car.
Maybe also got some Kumho out-of-round issue here. Sorry to say it but this will make me hesitate to buy them again.

I chose these as they have strong reviews and there was a £60 difference to the PS5 (£89 each at time of purchase)
First thing I noticed is they are alot quieter on the motorway than the PS4's have ever been. The rear grip is predictable and stable in wet, and no quarms at
Early indications show that the Kumho's offer more grip, better feel, are quieter and generally give more confidence over the PS5's.
I rarely review products but these Kumho's have genuinely surprised me. Great product at a fantastic price-point, well done Kumho!
My first feeling is the tyre is very direct and with a high level of grip. stable at (very) high speed, and with high levels of grip, also on cold damp roads. The tyre is a bit noisy, and despite being the same size as the OE, there is a higher margin of error on the tacho speed- real GPS speed (which I assume is linked to different tread depth of the tyre).
Overall an honestly good tyre, especially at is significantly cheaper to the other options I had considered, namely the SportContact7 and the Potenza Sport.
I usually get pretty shocking mileage as a result of this and do well to get over 2000 miles out of rears in dry conditions.
These were fitted about 6 weeks ago and the paltry 800 miles have been mostly wet or damp.
I’m down to 4 mm across the tread which is a bit of a shock. I should add pressures and alignment are spot on.
They definitely have a lot of traction in wet or dry. However the wear rate is the price you pay here. I think if these had been fitted in summer they would probably be finished.
The car produces a lot of power and torque, and these tyres cope with it well. They provide steady grip and remain stable at speed.
Most of my driving is on motorways, where they feel comfortable and controlled on long journeys. When driving on country roads, the tyres stay predictable through bends and uneven surfaces.
Based on my use so far, they offer solid performance and good value compared with more expensive options.
Anyway, the tyres feel very, very good. Grip is there wet or dry. It doesn't understeer, you can feel how the car is reacting. It's predictable. Great stopping distances.
It does seem a bit more noisy but the exhaust does mask that mostly.

These tires are amazing but when they are cold they do juggle the car from left to right vertically the suspension is working extremely hard because these tires are design for Precision cornering and the side wall is extremely hard but this is what I wanted, the reason behind is I did try before the Michelin PS4 acoustic on the set of 20 inch by eight and a half original Mercedes and unfortunately Michelin PS4 acoustic for a price of £1200 were disappointment, I spent a lot of money on the tires and I said to myself never again I will spend so much money on some branded tires which actually do not live to the hype, now these PS72 have outsmarted all the big brands and when I bought my four tires from ATS Euromaster in UK I spent with fitting £125 pounds each so that's that's a huge difference between spending 300 pounds each for a Michelin PS4 but that was a while ago since then I changed the other wheels to 19 inch then I went for a budget option of banoze tires, they were super soft and very comfy very good in wet however because the 275 35 and the way my S-Class is sitting on the airmatic was causing bulges on the inner side of the tire by the rim and I really dont want to end my life too early because of the tire blowout decided to swap it for something that is more reliable in terms of the sidewall because these tires and this profile, this low they tend to crack and cause bulges and they can burst so all in all in comparing to continental Sport contact five Sport contact 6 which I had a pleasure to drive in compared to Uniroyal 3 which was amazing tire but very soft going really quickly but with a right turning of the tires you could still squeeze 40,000 miles out of them so out of all these tires these are the most precise tyres I ever had.
I can only compare them to the tires I had before so starting from Goodyear eagle F1 AS2 then Michelin PS4 continental Sport contact 5 then continental Sport contact Three Some budget tires I had some tires oh of course we cannot forget Pirelli p zero.
So after all this mileage I have done over the years these tires are just beating them all in one go there so these tires are perfect in dry perfect in wet amazing in wet amazing heading back home yesterday there was a huge amount of rain starting going around roundabout or starting from a junction no ESP no traction control on after giving it some revs so absolutely amazing grip breaking same story it's super nice and super precise and size for the back 275 35 19 is in a sport s brand so the thing is the car is very jerky from left to right in vertical position when so like your head your whole body is moving with the car the suspension if it's airmatic and set up for comfort mode it's still the tires they dont want to give in, is just the tires are like stiff but when they are warm after a couple of miles it's it's a less of an issue it's still there but not as much but when it comes to a cornering when it comes to changing lanes acceleration breaking absolutely amazing tires amazing the only drawback I mentioned above is that they are so stiff that your whole body is shaking together with the car because the the tires don't want to give up they just don't want to hand over you know like they don't want to give up they are just keeping the form you know and doesn't matter, but luckily for me after a couple of thousands of miles I did inspect the tires there is a almost no visible wear the Tires at the moment and because the size of the different is different to the back then I I can only swap them side from left to right that's it so not sure if that's even necessary but then let's see how it goes amazing tires amazing amazing Tires at the Unbelievable price low price of low of a budget tire with the where the premium brands failed to be the desire so I would buy this tire again even if it means that they are not as comfy as the budget tires which were just too soft probably over time probably they will get more comfy I'm not sure I'm not sure if this is the case I am not so sure but so far I'm very happy with.
I scored in five in a comfort category because of the jerking of the car left and right and that the suspension must work extremely hard to compensate the road imperfections so much because the previous tires and Tires before the previous ones and the tiles before that where just soft and they were really good in like extending the comfort of the airmatic system these tires are just yes not that comfy they're okay but you you win some you lose some I prefer to lose a bit of comfort however they are extremely quiet extremely quiet you don't hear them at all you don't hear them at all it's just that stiffness that's the only issue if you're if you want the tires that have extremely stiff and strong sidewall you go for these you will.
