235/40 19 Tyre Review Highlights

Continental AllSeasonContact rated 88% while driving a Skoda Superb MK3 (2015 Present)
Driving on mostly town for 16000 average miles
I replaced the OE Pirelli P7’s, which had outstanding wear characteristics (37k and still had 3mm) but had poor wet grip and had huge tyre roar in the cabin, with these Continental AllSeason tyres back in November 2022. They are excellent. Fantastic grip in the wet and in snow and wear seems to be going well too, having covered 16k and they still have 4mm all round. And the biggest bonus is the lack of tyre roar in the cabin too. Obviously these have now been superseded by the 2’s but I’m sure they’re just as good.

Kumho Ecsta Sport PS72 rated 90% while driving a Tesla 2024 Model 3 RWD
Driving on a combination of roads for 75 spirited miles
New tire without any reviews when i bought it. But Kumho is decent tires and PS71 have been doing really good i recent tests and i tought that the successor must be at least as good. I have zero regrets buying this tire. Its really grippy, responsive and fun to drive. The Michelin E-primacy i had on the car before was really boring and terrible wet grip, but would probably last longer than i could stand keeping them. The PS72 is really close to the Continental Sport Contact 6 i had on other cars before in real world driving. The only thing i dont know about is the wear. The tires is really soft and thats fun but time will tell how well they last.
At least when new - a perfect tire for the sporty daily driver!

Continental SportContact 7 rated 95% while driving a Hyundai Kona N
Driving on mostly country roads for 1000 spirited miles
I can tell you I switched to Conti SC7 this year, and boy, are they brilliant. Unlike Bridgestone Potenza Sport, I think these are stickier. I disliked Potenzas because they became very plasticky after one season, and worse after that. They also required more time to get heat and grip in them, and they were also extremely loud and harsh due to the rock-solid sidewalls. Granted, that gives you somewhat better steering precision but on normal roads - the comfort was awful. SC7 are just perfect:)

Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus II rated 53% while driving a Honda Accord
Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 average miles
It's just a noisy summer. Very noisy. Apparently the rubber is very hard, since Treadwear is as much as 700! Wear for 25,000 km +/- 2 mm of tread worn out. This rubber is useless in snow and ice. Because of the same hardness. On a front-wheel drive car, it cannot overcome a 2-3 cm hill on the snow while standing still, I had to push it out with my hands. On ice, the rear part is thrown to the sides at a speed above 70 km on a practically clean road. In the end, I bought normal winter wheels, now I choose summer and no Allseason! Never! By the way, the car just arrived on them from the USA and they were new, well, you can't change new rubber))

Pirelli P Zero Winter rated 44% while driving a Porsche 992 Carrera 4S
Driving on mostly country roads for 500 spirited miles
I drive a 992 Carrera 4S in the Pacific Northwest. I'm using the Porsche OEM version of this tire (N-rated). In the snow I've had no problems with grip, under normal fairly cautious driving. But that is where the benefits of this tire end for me. In the dry or damp, the handling feels unpredictable in bends in a way I've never had before, like the grip limits are far lower but it's hard to sense at what speed or how it will behave. In the wet, these are abysmal. I've had ABS kick in under just slightly harder-than-usual braking. On a slightly damp surface (a couple hours after rain), a friend with the same car but on summer tires (in 37F / 3 C weather!) did a hard 0-60 at a highway entrance without issue - I was behind him and tried the same, but got wheel spin and wheel hop as the AWD scrabbled for traction. I'll also add that the rubber on the sidewalls appears to be breaking down, the tires are 2.5 years old and have always lived indoors.

If your winter is mostly snowy, these are not bad, but if you get mild rainy winters with minimal snow, like the PNW, I'd avoid these.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 rated 87% while driving a Volkswagen Passat B8 Estate 2.0TFSI 280hp
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 spirited miles
This is an exceptional tyre, hard to break traction in the wet or dry. Comfortable, confident and long lasting for a performance tyre.

Hankook iON Evo rated 61% while driving a Tesla Model 3 LR
Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 average miles
It's a good quiet and comfortable tyre for my EV, however the grip is quite limited compared to PS4 or PS5. A bit of an unfair comparison but I feel grip is the most important rather than comfort. Dry grip is just slightly above average, wet grip is average.

Was swerving to avoid an object on the road, the tyre screeched loudly and provided just barely enough grip during that situation. If it was ps4 or ps5 in the same situation, there probably will not be any screeching and would have plenty of grip left over.

Giti GitiSportS2 rated 50% while driving a Audi S5
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
Been using this tyre since October 2024, however during today balancing and Allignment check, 3pcs of the tyre was bloated and unusable, need to replace new tyre. Disappointed with Giti Tyre. Defiantly will not buy again. Piece of junk product from China.

Michelin X Ice Snow rated 87% while driving a Lexus IS350
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 average miles
Very good tire for my 2023 Lexus is 350 . 19 inch tyres for my car is expensive, so I went with my favourite brand Michelin . Did 7000 km on them , in Quebec, Canadian winters . So far I am very satisfied with the handling, grip in heavy snow and icy roads. Very comfortable ride , very quiet to. Almost no wear noticeable. I highly recommend these tires .

Bridgestone Turanza EL440 rated 53% while driving a Toyota Camry XSE AWD
Driving on a combination of roads for 20 spirited miles
These tires came stock on my 2023 camry xse awd. At first I loved them, they were quiet, comfy and handled good. My second season on them they got noisey as they wore down and wet handling got worse as you'd expect with wear. My biggest gripe is they don't last super long and are very expensive for how long they last. They are a tough tire though, never had any issues with potholes or anything and found out the hard way that toyotas oem rims will be damaged before the tire itself. They offer good performance but they just don't last and are too pricey. Got roughly 30k kms on them and they are worn down to the wear bars.

Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 rated 70% while driving a Tesla Model 3 LR
Driving on mostly motorways for 43500 average miles
Had these tire's fitted as stock from Tesla and they have been really good reliable tires. I don't have anything to compare them to on the Model 3, dry grip has been excellent but I have experienced times on wet roads where the cars stabilization control has taken over. Not sure if this is just an over aggressive stabilization control on the car though. The most impressive thing on this tire is the tread wear, it's just reached 70,000KM and there is still some treadwear left on them, I reckon they can go for another 5,000KM but given their age (5 years), I will get them replaced. Thank you Hankook for a safe 70,000KM's.
