so far so good. A bit noisy, tread wear still lasting after 10k miles/ 15 months. Ride is supple, handling is ok during spirited drive.
The Gripmax SuperGrip Pro Sport is an economy summer performance tyre with low rolling resistance and low external noise. Long wet stopping distances and weak wet handling are its main limitations, with dry braking and handling also falling short in a sports-car comparison.
The Gripmax SuperGrip Pro Sport has clear efficiency and noise attractions in independent testing: Auto Bild Sportscars measured the lowest rolling resistance and second-lowest external noise among seven tyres in 2025. Straight-line aquaplaning was reasonably close to the best, though the curved result was weaker. Those positives did not produce a balanced result, with last place overall in that staggered-fitment comparison.
Wet braking is the recurring weakness, with stopping distances 21% behind the best in Auto Bild's 2023 comparison, 25.6% behind in Sportscars in 2025 and 31.7% behind in 2026. The sports-car test also found weak wet handling, pronounced oversteer and poor stability in quick lane changes, prompting a warning against use. Dry performance varied unusually: relatively competitive braking in 2023 contrasts with last-place dry braking and handling in 2025, despite that write-up describing decent dry characteristics. Low resistance and external noise therefore come with substantial braking and handling compromises.
