Top 3 Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 Reviews

Given 73% while driving a Mazda 3 2.2D 150 (215/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 19,000 spirited miles
Fitted a set of these to my Mazda3 Sport Nav. I’ve always been a fan of Hankook tyres but have had various on different cars, Michelin to Budget.

First thing you notice with these tyres is just how much they improve the ride. The car had stock Dunlop Sport Maxx TT tyres and whilst these gave a sharper steering feel you felt every little ripple in the road. The Hankooks certainly smoothed things out, with only a small trade off in steering feel. Next is the grip. In both wet and dry I’ve been known to do some pretty stupid things, but I’ve yet to trigger the ABS or lose grip with these tyres. They grip and go. Aqua planing isn’t any more of an issue than any other wider tyre.

Downside to this tyre is wear - front tyres down to 2mm after just 19k but expected with a 2.2d fwd car. Even then no noticeable loss in grip. Regarding noise it seemed quieter when I first put the tyres on, however these Mazda3’s aren’t the quietest and there is a lot of road noise coming through. Unsure if this is the tyre itself or the actual car, but on a previous vehicle (Seat Ibiza) I noticed a similar intermittent droning noise when switching from the Ventus V12 Evo to the Ventus V12 Evo2. Will be trying the Michelin PS4 now that it’s available in this size, as had on an A3 S Line Saloon, found I got around 30k on the front tyres and they’re only £10 per tyre more.

Given 93% while driving a Audi S3 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 11,000 spirited miles
Fitted as standard to Audi S3, I was bit worried as never considered the brand before but to my surprise the tyres have good grip wet and dry, reasonably quiet and been 11000 miles and still 4mm tread. I have had various tyres before Pirelli, Dunlop and Michelins and the Hankooks come out as good if not better than more expensive tyres. ....would have no hesitation buying again.

Given 93% while driving a Mercedes Benz GLC 250 4 Matic (265/45 R20) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
Bought a GLE from Mercedes main dealer with feathered tyres, handling was shocking and they refused to change them so I bit the bullet and paid for 4 x tyres.Had Pirelli P Zeros on there and replaced them with Hankook Evo 3……. Wow it’s like a new car, handling great and how it should of from the beginning.Looked at lots of reviews and decided on these because of the good ratings in both wet and dry as I’d aquaplaned in the Pirelli tyres.£186 each at Just Tyres in Lewes.

Given 67% while driving a Mercedes Benz E350 (245/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 25,000 easy going miles
Had them fitted in a W213, in north west of spain where it rains quite a lot. They were great when new, great grip, could step on the gas a bit more aggresively without the ESP kicking in and good improvement on the wet as well coming from Assys 3. The disappointment came when after only 28.000 Kms the tread was all gone pretty fast , and, since there was 3 mm left the wet performance dropped quite massively, having understeer in roundabouts and more ESP action when accelerating (The assy 3 performed the same through all its life). Car is used daily for going to work, mostly motorway and a third of it on B roads or inside city. I will try other brands and models as the treadwear and the performance dropped quite suddenly with this one.

I used to use evo 2 before, evo 3 completed the disadvantages of evo2 and had tires that offered excellent driving experiences.

MINI Cooper SD (205/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 200 spirited miles
Have had the previous version of run flats * 2 covering approx. 60000 miles this is a significant improvement in respect of road noise grip and handling, just driving as the car was new and I have 130 000 miles, car now pulls and has full grip, corners and B roads stability improved, would recommend

Given 80% while driving a Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI PP DSG (235/35 R19) on mostly town for 1,000 spirited miles
Bought these tyres based on this websites reviews and videos on Youtube. Fitted approx 1,000km ago to my Mk7 Golf GTI Performance to replace the original Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres which were past their used by date. Tyres are too new to comment on wear and wet weather (has only rained once when I have been driving) but in the dry I am very happy with the grip and feedback from these tyres. The tyres are quiet and grippy, and with a treadwear of 320 they should give a good life/grip balance. They also have an attractive sidewall and tread pattern.
