Continental CrossContact H/T

Continental's tyre developers have designed the multi-purpose tread pattern of the new CrossContact H/T (highway/terrain) to handle the daily challenges of a passenger car, crossover and SUV tyre – with conventional or electric drive systems – just as well as a product developed for use on asphalt. Continental will produce 43 variants between 15 and 21 inches in diameter, with speed approvals of 118 to 168 mph.

Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Latest Tyre Test Results
Continental Cross-Contact H/T stands apart as the road-focused option. It demonstrated the best dry road performance with excellent handling, precise steering and strong braking. Wet performance was outstanding across all tests including class-leading aquaplaning resistance. Snow performance wasn't tested as this isn't a winter-rated tyre. Offroad performance was limited compared to the AT tyres, particularly struggling in mud and on loose surfaces. Rolling resistance was very good at 8.0 kg/t. It was the quietest tyre tested at 70.5 dB with excellent comfort and minimal road noise. The clear choice for those who rarely venture offroad and prioritize on-road safety and comfort.

Given 83% while driving a Mitsubishi ASX Outlander Sport (215/70 R16) on for 0 miles
European version asx 215/70r16 , before had Michelin Latitude Cross for 55k kms, but was very noisy on road and fuel consumption getting up 0.5 liters/100km. Conti real great in the first 4.000km silent and also consumption was significant less than before. Hope have keep having this nice performance for more than 40k kms.

Given 90% while driving a Nissan Qashqai (215/60 R17) on mostly motorways for 3,000 average miles
I have driven 3,000 km with these tires and I am very satisfied with their behavior on both dry and wet roads. Before them I had conti crosssontact lx2 with which I drove about 40,000 km in 5 summer seasons and they were also very good tires.

Latest Continental CrossContact HT Reviews

Given 82% while driving a Lexus NX 300h (225/60 R18) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
I replaced all 4 tyres on my Lexus NX with Continental Cross Contact H/T 100H tyres. What a difference, I had Yokohama Blueearth E51 100H tyres on before, these are standard factory fit by Lexus. The Yokohama tyres are a very stiff side wall, offering little bump absorption on roughy UK roads. The NX is not really a sporty SUV to be thrown into corners, so the stiff tyre wall is wasted in my opinion, instead they provide a very bumpy ride with excessive noise which passengers complained about. The Continentals are so much quieter, offer a smoother ride and have a softer side wall. I can’t really tell the difference in handling, it’s an SUV so I don’t expect race car handling and never pushed the Yokohama tyres so I can’t really comment too much. I certainly won’t be going back to Yokohama Blueearth tyres.
