215/45 17 Tyre Review Highlights

Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08RS rated 80% while driving a Fiat Grande Punto TJet
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 spirited miles
A very comfortable and quiet semi-slick compared to nankang ar1 or michelin cup 2 etc. However the grip level isn't as good as a compromise. At the limit the ad08RS can "cheat" the driver due to early squealing quite a bit before they let go completely. Because of this inexperienced drivers sometimes underrate the tire as they think this is the limit. The grip is very linear and in my opinion over/understeer happens predictably (driven on track in Fiat Grande Punto Tjet and Citroen C2 VTS).

Dunlop Winter Sport 5 rated 69% while driving a Toyota Prius
Driving on a combination of roads for 40000 average miles
The Winter Sport 5 give the car a little too much of understeer but still acceptable, a little more disturbing is they feel a little lazy on the breakes but still ok for a winter tyre. I drove only 2-3 hours in real winter conditions here in hamburg so do not expect too much from my opinion - they did their job which is fine for this small and wide format. Noise, comfort and fuel consumption are very ok. The sidewalls were surprisingly full of dents after the first winter, and look not much better than the moon after 3 Winters - but where it counts they still look like one more winter, now the score is 40000 miles.

Vredestein Quatrac Pro rated 75% while driving a Subaru BRZ
Driving on a combination of roads for 1500 spirited miles
First 1000km: Dry: After adequate running-in, the Quatrac Pro, in terms of presence in the center and reactivity in direction changes, has now eliminated the initial differences compared to the Michelin Primacy HP. There remains only a slightly more noticeable lying in support of the curve. A little more difficult to get it tailed, but the progressivity in the transient loss / regain adhesion to the rear is excellent and also the ride comfort is truly remarkable for an m + s. Wet: very consistent on damp asphalt just above 0 ° C. Basically it seems to have the grip limits of the Primacy in dry conditions around 5 ° C. Until now, however, I have not yet been able to test its evacuation capacity on noteworthy layers of water. Snow: not tested yet So far below 20 ° C is the tire I wanted: good on dry, excellent in wet, comfortable and beautiful to look at. p.s. Optimal pressure with temperatures below 20 ° C: 230kPa (2.3 bar) --------------------- --------------------- Update after about 2000km: The performance has completely stabilized and I confirm the exceptional balance and ductility of this tire. Extremely fun both dry and wet practically at all tested temperatures between -5 ÷ + 22 ° C. In dry the shoulder, once deformed in support, holds up very well with a lower understeer tendency compared to the Primacy. The insertion speed is quite good considering the tread depth. By playing with a slight advance and forcing the intensity of the steering a little, the handling is maximized, which is therefore very good for a 4-season. In skidding the tire is progressive and never abrupt in transients. Braking is a little long and spongy but the bite is excellent on uneven surfaces. In wet, the rubber does what you ask of it. With a precise and shrewd guide it holds and convinces always and in any case, in every situation and at every temperature in which the liquid element remains so. When you want to have fun, the safety margins are wide and the responses very gradual. Excellent braking, truly a monument. Excellent drainage, even with temperatures close to freezing. Absorption of roughness and silence excellent for a 4-season. No whistles even during drifting, acceleration from standstill and tight corners. The only drawback still present is the sensation of floating above 140km / h which I hope will decrease with the wear of the tread. Successfully tested even with snow around 5cm on routes without excessive slopes. The bite is consistent and the directionality is sufficient as long as you stroke the accelerator. Not yet tested on ice.

Firemax FM601 rated 29% while driving a Toyota Avensis
Driving on a combination of roads for 4000 average miles
Thought I would try a set of cheap budgets on my car and ended up with these. They are a terrible tyre. Traction control light would start flashing on my car when it never used to - that is in the dry too. Didn't even need to try particularly hard in order for it to happen! Bear in mind I drive a petrol Toyota Avensis, which is not exactly a powerful car. Do not buy these. If you do need to buy budgets because you are low on cash, there are better brands to get than these.

Bridgestone Adrenalin RE003 rated 77% while driving a
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 average miles
Was looking for tires to fit on my mild turbo proton preve, replacing the 5 year old stock tires. Ended up buying the Adrenaline RE003 for its highest score on dry road, compared to other tires within my budget. Great choice i would say, the grip is much2 better than the stock tires, feels more confident when cornering at high speed. Although its quite noisy, its normal for a high performance tires (some says). The downside is, the wet condition is not that great. Can sometime feel a bit wobbly at high speed (120-140kmh) when its raining. So, i would limit the fastest speed in the rain using these tires to 110-130kmh. Other than the noise and wet performance, i think these tires would be perfect for anyone living where there is not much rain throughout the year. Some say these tires will last around 30000km, so im looking forward to see will it last that long, or less.

Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO rated 92% while driving a Toyota GT86
Driving on a combination of roads for 100 spirited miles
My Car is a GT86, came standard with Michelin Primacy HP as Summer and Bridgestone Blizzak as Winter. Size is 215/45R17. Both Sets were produced in Q3/2012, so pretty old by now and got very hard by now (especially the Michelins) The new Set of Tires (the Bridgestone Weather Control) are softer and ride quality is much improved. Less crashy over bumps and they feel quieter than before. Due to the softer compound, the tires are now doing more of the suspension work, before the suspension actually starts working. Feels great that way. They are also incredibly grippy (compared to the old ones) so going into a drift takes a little more effort, but once in the drift, its easier to keep it there (less steering input is needed to correct it) Tested it on a rainy day and temperatures were at 7° C

Falken ZIEX ZE310 EcoRun rated 83% while driving a Ford Mondeo 1.6 TDCi
Driving on for 12000 miles
I use the tires on the Ford mondeo mk iv 1.6 tdci. The tires are extra load 95. They seem to be very stable but way too hard.. I use them in Greece so there is big climate changes. From - 5 degrees Celsius to 40...if warm weather they have a good grip but in cold weather the grip is average. Aquaplanning is sometimes a little bit too early. The ride is a bit too hard. My car has a firm ride due to the sport suspension, so I can feel any imperfections of the road.. Previously I was using goodyear efficient grip and matador mp47. Matador were the best from these three tires. All three were 215 45 17 95v. My driving style is mostly average and only a few times spirited. I have 20k on them and they seem to age in a good manner.

Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 rated 77% while driving a Suzuki swift sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 spirited miles
Changed to 4 pieces of this late 2019. Living in a country where its either hot or raining constantly, wet performance is very important. Been happy with the level of grip on dry and the quietness of this tyre. No dramas during wet. While I am not skilled enough to push my car to the limits, I do drive averagely at 160 to 180kmh on highways and the tyre is stable and grips well. Wear is good but maybe coz it's covid 19 and WFH hence not being able to try other tyres. Would buy it again except I'm keen to try other tyres just to experiment. Oh good price too.

Hankook Winter i cept RS2 rated 96% while driving a BMW 3
Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 spirited miles
This is my first winter season with these tyres. Bought them after reading all the good reviews they've received. They have excellent dry and wet grip. I haven't experienced extreme winter conditions with them yet, but there was no problem with the small amount of snow we've had. Feedback, comfort and wear is also good. I see some have mentioned noise issues, over my driving years I've used several high end makes of winter tyre including Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli and I can honestly say these have been one of the quietest I've driven on, maybe lower tyre profiles makes the difference? I would have no issue buying these again.

Star Performer Winter AS rated 81% while driving a Lexus IS200
Driving on a combination of roads for 1500 miles
I must say I bought them new for 45euro each, and not for normal street driving, but to have fun with my rwd is200. So i put 2 of them in the back, but they are much more grippy than I expected. Dry handling is very good, very hard to make the lose traction with the 155hp the is200 has, very stable. Also the wet grip is incredibly more than I expected, they perform as much as makes no difference as a premium tire. To lose traction you have to kick the clutch. Also snow and ice performance is more than average, I made a roadtrip to the mountains during a snowstorm and they performed very good, managed to get moving under all conditions, and they feel safe on any surface. I was expecting some shitty unsafe, sliding around with these chinesse cheap tires, but they managed to wow me. In the front I run some Nokian wrd3 from 2016, so i can say that they are almost the same level of grip over all surfaces.
