The Tyre Reviews Score is the most comprehensive tyre scoring system available. It aggregates professional test data from multiple independent publications, user reviews, and consistency analysis using Bayesian statistical methods, weighted normalisation, and recency-adjusted scoring to produce a single, reliable performance rating.

Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Given 83% while driving a Ford Galaxy (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 14,000 average miles
I bought these (As runflats) to replace my other front two top end tyres that I had only got 13k miles out of. I have currently got 14k miles and counting from them and there is still 5mm+ of tread! They are a great tyre, I just wish they were easier to get hold of, and still as cheap as when I bought them

Given 51% while driving a BMW E36 328i Sport (255/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
These tyres look nice and have a V tread pattern and handle good in the dry with no problems. BUT in the wet pushing 200BHP+ rear wheel drive these tyres are poor and I had no confidence in throwing the car around and had to slow for roundabouts as was always worried about the tail end slipping out, as I had experienced previously. Not bad for a budget tyre but compared to the Michellins PS2 I have now.......... well you cant compare them......... simples!!

Given 89% while driving a Honda Prelude (215/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 40,000 spirited miles
Bought these tyres to replace Bridgestone Potenza's. These tyres are highly rated in northern Europe, made in Finland. Was a bit scepticle about them as they were only ?60 per corner fitted compared to the ?115 for the Bridgestones which had lasted only 8K miles, best decision I have made! When coming up to a corner at speed you know you are going to get round it, be it wet or dry. You can feel the tyres traction breaking away when pushing too hard so have time to react. Tyres now done 7K and only half worn so they are very good value for money. Came out very well in a recent Which? survey, only problem is they are very hard to source in the UK so I don't know if I will be able to replace them when they are done.

Given 86% while driving a Volkswagen Passat 1.9TDi Sport Estate (Chipped) (205/55 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 30,000 average miles
Review for the Nokian Z - Recommened these by some of our family that are living in Sweden, their Winter tyres have a huge reputation in Northern Europe, Canada etc.

These have been nothing short of incredible - I've gone through the Michelin Primacy, Goodyear NCT's, Bridgestone ER 30 & 300...and by far the Nokians have been the best.

In simple terms I hardly see the traction control light come on anymore, the grip is excellent especially under power - with the engine management re-done on the car I was forever slipping the front's with previous tyres but with these it's almost gone. The horrible under-steer I'd got used to with the Michelins has gone, with no real loss in over all wear - done nearly 30,000 on the set.

Wet grip is easily as good as the other brands - feedback is a little remote, but they are quiet.

About half way through their life I did have new Koni Shocks and Eibach springs fitted, which has also probably helped the tyres perform at their best - but they really haven't felt out of place in this suspension set up.

I'd buy them again, but they are very difficult to find here in the UK - when I bought them they were about ?55.00 fitted - best I can find via the web now is - ?74.00 non fitted...they really deserve more pressence in the market.
