Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Top 3 Nexen N3000 Reviews

Given 46% while driving a Saab Automobile 2.0T (210bhp) (225/45 R17 W) on mostly town for 24,000 spirited miles
The N3000s were brand new on my Saab 9-3 when I bought it second hand on early 2014 and while these tyres look sharp and have only done 24000 miles since I have had the car I was quite shocked to see a flat tyre. I removed the tyre and couldn't see any nail or hole so I took it to a local tyre repair shop who said there was a leak in the side wall and that the othree three tyres have an advisory on them for the same issue. I had noticed over the past few months that I had to put air in tyres more frequently but never expected the sidewall to collapse as the tread isnt even half way to 1.6mm. The spare is now on and luckily I dont have to use my car daily as, quite frankly, I dont want to drive it. I am getting Continental Premium Contact 6 tyres fitted later this week and hope they have a bit more grip and longevity.

Given 80% while driving a Vauxhall Astra 1.9 cdti 150hp (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 12,000 average miles
I place the Nexen tyres in value for money mid-range tyre category.
Have had them on my 07 Astra 1.9 16v diesel under normal driving conditions these are fantastic tyres never let go on me driving 'normally' rain or shine.
I Highly recommend Nexen along ,both tyres have served me well front and rear .
Have used Nexen N3000 and N6000 tyres either are great

Given 43% while driving a Lexus IS200 (215/45 R17) on mostly town for 7,000 average miles
The side walls always crack causing the need for changing tyres before 1/2 the thread is worn.

Given 33% while driving a Buick riveria (235/30 R22) on mostly town for 10,000 spirited miles
97 riveria on 22's - less than 10k miles - inside tire sidewall split about 18 inches - will not buy again

Given 54% while driving a Volvo S40 2.0d (205/55 R16) on mostly motorways for 15,000 average miles
Had 2 lots of Nexen now, just failed MOT and both front tyres worn to thread just 10k since changed!! not happy. , expected a bit further for this price of tyre. Second lot I have had that have lasted just over 10k, wont be buying again..save yor money and michelin, had Michelin before and they went on for miles.
Also Nexen wheel spin on wet roads on FWD Volvo which surprised me.

Given 43% while driving a Jaguar XKR (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 500 easy going miles
I think with these tyres it depends on the car you own. I have recently purchased a Jaguar XKR which has new N300 fitted. Even on the test drvie with dry roads acceleraring from a roundabout the back end let go and slid.

I have not had them on the car long but I personally have no confidence in these tyres for a poweful car and as such within a week of ownership they are coming off and to be replaced with eitherContinentals which are buy far the best tyres I have ever used or P Zeros

Holden Ute SS (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 25 spirited miles
Had these tyres on my ve commodore ute, for approximatly 50km
Were by far the worst tyres I have ever used. Drove straight back
to the tyre shop and replaced them. My rear end at speed was swaying
like an overloaded tray back ute.

Given 63% while driving a Volkswagen bora tdi (195/65 R15 V) on a combination of roads for 32,000 average miles
Use for 32000 miles. All bold on edges. Been swapped front / rear twice still have 4 mm in the main area. Could do with more grip and that's with a 100 bora tdi bora, the torque over whelks the tyre when cornering and on the go pedal. Not to bad a tyre , but for a budget tyre , I was told they are. Weaker on the edges.

Given 67% while driving a Toyota Corolla (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
Although have only had these tyres on the front of a 09 Corolla for less than 6 months, I can already say, I really like these tyres. They hold the corner way better than my previous tyres which was Sumitomo HTR 55Z.

Overall, I'd have to agree about the wet weather, these tyres feel like there is a non-existent grip when it is raining. But in the dry, it really made a couple of people have a look at me, having to see a Corolla overtake them half way through a corner.

Given 64% while driving a Dodge stratus rt coupe 3.0 (215/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
I've had a few sets of these tyres. These tyres are good on dry road but don't drive on the freeway in the rain, horrible in rain, don't feel safe, like they don't touch the road just riding on water. Only drive this car on sunny days so it doesn't bother me.

Skoda Fabia 1.4TDi (205/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
Fabia TDI

Just bought 2 for the front replacing 2 Avon VZ. Only driven a few miles and immediate notice that far quieter, firm handling and smoothed out bumps in the road.
Much better than the Avons that had been on just over a year but had to be replaced.

Given 47% while driving a Honda CIVIC 1.6 VTEC (205/40 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 5,000 average miles
Had these on the front after about 5000 miles the side walls started to crack on both tyres and 1 developed a buldge with 5mm of tread left. Dry grip is very good sticks to the road when cornering. In the wet seems fairly good on the motorway (M1)no twiching. The problem is when going around a bend in the wet, one second you feel like they are gripping then they just let go and yours sideway's.! These are good when new but the more you progress the worse it gets. looking to change these for Pirelli Zero Nero or Yokohama S drive or Prada Spec 2

Given 77% while driving a Vauxhall Vectra SRI 1.9 (150) (215/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 12 spirited miles
I had a pair of N3000's fitted to my Vectra when I bought her, they had been fitted at the dealer, so were new. I had heard of them and did admire the tread design thinking it rather modern and appealing.
The tyres performed well and only under extreme provocation let go, or aquaplaned, and on those occasions no tyre made would have retained composure, so I have to give them a decent rating. As a tyre for distance I found them soft and only squeezed 12,000 out them, however at the price I can live with this for an excellent tyre and I was so impressed by Nexen, that I have gone back to the brand but for the premium performance N8000 which I have decided to run.
Nexen is a good brand and good tyre and as good as some of the premium tyres I have experience with.
