205/50 17 Tyre Review Highlights

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 rated 83% while driving a Volvo C30 D5
Driving on mostly country roads for 10000 spirited miles
Very happy with the PS4s. Good levels of both grip and comfort, topped off with a quiet ride. They grip surprisingly well, usable even a few degrees (centigrade) under freezing. You'd have to do something very silly to get them to lose traction. I can really feel the difference, both handling and comfort, coming from Goodyear Eff Grip Performance (gen 1). I feel they're the best balance between comfort and sportiness, as while they aren't the most communicative tyre, they're not completely numb either. There's plenty of warning before they lose grip. Wear is comparable to the Goodyears, which is to say it's pretty good. After just over 10k miles, they have around 3.5mm left, so should be good for a few more months.

Only driven with these tyres for approx 1 hour, these are absolutely dangerous in the wet. Like driving on black ice. I'm now forced to take way more caution around roundabouts / tight bends. These tyres need to be taken off the market.

Sava Intensa UHP 2 rated 76% while driving a Volvo V40, 2013 D2
Driving on mostly motorways for 8000 average miles
I bought these tires because it was extremely hard to find any tyres in stock in 205/50/17 for my car and I had to get them ASAP as I was going on a business trip. I didn't expect much to be honest but I was pleasantly surprised. They are noticeably more noisy than Goodyears that I was replacing, but for the price these are great tyres. This is my second season driving them and I'm pleased.

Super quick response at steering inputs. Very sporty tyre. Noisy at high speeds. Wear could be better.

3rd set of efficient grip tyres just fitted won't use anything else excellent tyre, wears well, quiet, great grip, comfortable, saves on fuel cost what more would you want from a tyre?.

Continental WinterContact TS 870 P rated 93% while driving a Mazda MX5
Driving on mostly town for 500 spirited miles
I got an MX-5 NC, it's just 125 HP, but it's so light it can easily lose grip, especially since it doesn't have any systems to prevent slippage, etc. I had pretty bad tires so I had to make sure I get the best damn possible models I can for a car like this. I did a lot of research (thanks TyreReviews) and got the Continental WinterContact TS 870 P. The feel of the car immediately changed on these tires. Grip on dry and wet is amazing. Now, even when I want to lose a little grip, do some drifts, have some fun, I can't! I couldn't even force losing grip on slushy snow which is another huge plus for an MX-5. Noise levels are fine and I got a pretty hard suspension, so I can't really say anything about comfort. I haven't had em for too long, but overall, I'd buy these again and again! Highly recommended!

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Run Flat rated 84% while driving a BMW 118d
Driving on a combination of roads for 22000 spirited miles
Now on my third set of these tyres. The car came with these and they have been brilliant so I have decided to stay with them. I don't run the car in winter and I have only once driven the car on these tyres in the snow, I wouldn't recommend it. But a great tyre for the rest of the year. Reading other reviews these tyres appear to be too harsh on low profile tyres and can crack rims, however on 50's they seem fine and I have never experienced this problem.

Continental VikingContact 7 rated 94% while driving a Mazda 3 Series
Driving on mostly town for 2000 spirited miles
I bought VK7's to replace all season tires that came with my used car purchase. The all-seasons had snow siping but had very poor acceleration traction and bad braking performance. After one snow storm, I purchased these and it couldn't have been more different. These tires seem to have more grip in snow than my all-season tires do in the damp. ABS hardly ever kicks in when braking and there has never been an issue accelerating from a light. I feel very confident in these tires and also have peace of mind when either I or my wife is driving knowing that the tires are safe in bad conditions. I will likely only purchase these tires going forward for all my future vehicles that need them.

Very good at how much they cost. The single problem is when you don t use your car they make a flat spot first kilometers.

Kumho WinterCraft WP71 rated 13% while driving a Mazda 3 MPS
Driving on mostly country roads for 5 spirited miles
I immediately sold the tires as they handled dangerously bad on my Mazda 3 MPS BK. It might be the size to be responsible for this. I was driving 50kmh doin slalom and the tires lost control so the stability system had to kick in. Driving 100kmh felt dangerous as the tires felt extremely soft and indirect like a sponge. I cannot recommend this tire. No I am warning not to buy this unless you are a very slow driver and want to save money. But even in that case there are better choices for example the Nexen or Fulda.

Debica Presto UHP2 rated 97% while driving a Renault Megane
Driving on a combination of roads for 4500 average miles
Tire set price was around 255€ in Poland. I was driving on motorways with speeds 120-180 kph both in dry hot weather and in the rain and felt safe. When properly inflated, tires yields better fuel consumption on such speeds. Grip was also ok in the city rapid accelarations and in the dirt. No noise from tires whatsoever comparing to my winter set of Gislaved or allseason tire which was assembled on rented car which I was driving few monthes ago. Price quality ratio is very good with these. Current tread depth after ~7000 kilometers is 7 mm
