Review Summary
Based on 27 user reviews
For the Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2, most drivers report strong dry grip, short dry braking, and generally good high-speed stability, with many satisfied in wet braking/straight-line traction and value for money. However, several mid- to low-scoring reviews cite weaker wet cornering once worn, faster tread wear for some users, rising noise as the tyre ages, and a firm/less comfortable ride. A notable minority experienced premature wear and poor wet handling at low scores, but many high-scoring reviews praised longevity and confidence in rain. Overall sentiment is moderately positive, emphasizing grip and value while acknowledging comfort, noise, and wet-when-worn limitations.
Strengths
- Dry grip and braking
- High-speed stability/handling
- Wet braking and straight-line grip
- Value/price
- Acceptable to good noise when new

Areas for Improvement

- Increased road noise as tyre wears
- Firm/harsh ride
- Inconsistent tread life
Top 3 Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2 Reviews
When driving under normal circumstances and at normal speeds, the tires are quiet and great on the highway. While noise is good even at 50% wear, comfort is poor, these tires feel as stiff as run-flats, at the recommended tire pressure of 260kpa for my car, these tires are crashy. Every pothole, rough surface and joint is felt. To compensate I dropped my tire pressures to just 180kpa (26psi), which of course came at the expense of wear. On the upside, braking in the dry is excellent, with a short stopping distance and good control during emergency braking.
When driving spiritedly (using the recommended 260kpa tire pressure), these tires are alright with pretty good grip in the dry. Grip is progressive which makes driving moderately fast quite easy, steering feel and responsiveness actually improves as the tires heat up and these tires become noticeably more responsive when warm. However, fast steering changes cause the front end to wash out. Overall a serviceable tire for occasional spirited drives. However, avoid driving spiritedly during rainfall, especially when worn. The tires have decent braking and acceleration in the wet, but cornering grip is weak and unpredictable. These tires lose all its progressiveness in the wet, when it slips it lets go. Snap oversteer isn't fun, at least it isn't my cup of tea.
In summary:
+ Good dry grip and handling, responsiveness and steering feedback improves when warmed up
+ Great dry braking performance
+ Fairly quiet at high speed
+ Very cheap for a well-known brand
+ Good straight line acceleration and braking in the wet
- Terribly harsh ride
- Unpredictable wet handling at 50% wear
- Average tread wear
- Vague road feedback and lack of auditory feedback make driving at the limit guesswork
The Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2 is a decent buy on a budget. It's a cheap touring tire that's quiet, with grip levels close to UHP tires. The stiff sidewalls are uncomfortable but seem damage resistant. Just be careful of it's wet cornering once worn.
Would I buy again? Probably not, but not because it's a bad tire, but because doesn't suit my preferences and car.
Would I recommend it? Probably yes, for those on a tight budget looking for a well known branded tire that has good grip and handling.
Very disappointed.
Poor life, terrible wet handling and braking.
I replaced them with the aforementioned Bridgestone tyres (similarly priced at the time of purchase).
No comparison, the Bridgestone tyres lasted far longer (35%), and the grip and braking in wet conditions was markedly better.
So much so that I have just put the same Bridgestone tyres on the vehicle for replacement after 60,000km and over three years later.
The Goodyear's aren't in the same league.
Latest Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2 Reviews
Confident spirited driving in wet or dry roads, even when tread left about 20%.
This tire should be able to last about 50k-60k km if maintain regularly.
However I didn't buy the same model this time, because the noise level is just not for me. Opted for Assurance Maxguard this time.
1. Superb dry grip, few times emergency brake, car stopped nicely even no sound from the tires was heard due to hard breaking.
2. Excellent wet grip , no much different for tyre grip during dry or wet.
3. Perfect Aqua planing resistant, the car break away water perfectly, car can be maneuvered confidently when tires hits water ponding even during cornering. I can drive much faster in highway during rain compared to other car , differences is very obvious .
4. Long lasting , my car hits 120,000 km in 3 years with this tires and the grip still superb . No crack observed on tires , tires tread < 50%, I forecast at least can used up to 150,000 km .
5. Hard side wall, give good control during cornering or cornering on uneven road .
6. Cheapest among all branded tires in the same class. Based on my research , at least 10%-15% cheaper compared to continental, Michelin or Bridgestone.
7. Noise is just average , not too loud, but little noisy compared to other big brand tyre . But still in acceptable level
8. Lack of comfort , Due to hard side wall these tyre sacrifice on comfort a little bit but still within acceptable level .
Positive:
- Low Rolling Resistance
- Excellent Dry & Wet Breaking Performance
- Dry Grip is pretty good
- Good wet grip
- Good handling
- Asphalt Noise Pretty quiet
- Price in Jakarta (Indonesia) Rp. 600,000/pcs
Lack:
- Comfort, not good, because this typical tire is not typical Comfort
- Concrete/cast noise, a bit noisy (nging nging nging). Based on a personal
