Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Top 3 Accelera Beta Reviews

Given 37% while driving a BMW 325i (205/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
Drove this tire from Oct-2016 to Jan-2021, then switched to Michelin PS4. - Dry grip: Poor like driving on ice especially in high speed corner, but no problem in straight. - Wet grip: Even poorer, but still no problem in straight. - Comfort: poor, harsh ride. The noise is bad even in low speed, I thought I had a failed wheel bearing but the noise gone after switching to the new PS4. - Braking: The brakes became jerky when using this tire. - Acceleration: Draggy, high rolling resistance. - Actual size: I used 205/50 R17, though the bead is in the right size, the thread seems like it is 2 steps smaller (looked like 185 width thread), this is the most disappointing aspect for me. - Wear: good, after 4 years & some 20k km driven the thread still looked like new, about 70-80% thread depth left. Cons: Only use this tire if you: 1. Only drive in city 2. Very calm in high way 3. Have no problem with the bad things I mentioned above.

Given 64% while driving a Peugeot 307 (205/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 120 average miles
I had 4 of these fitted this morning and to begin with over the first 10-15 miles I was disappointed, was like I was on ice!!! Today has been a damp day and the roads are very greasy, but as I pulled out of the tyre centre and accelerated, I had no traction just spinning the wheels!!! A few miles on and the tyres have improved, but still not great in the damp/greasy conditions!! I had 4 Toyo Proxes R32's removed and they were down to 2-3mm and were great in all conditions, predictable and you knew where you were with them!!! The Accelera's are good for price, but I cannot comment on wear or if I'd buy again as I've had them less than 24hrs!!! They don't give any warning signs of letting go, but aren't totally numb in feedback!! Progressiveness is not a strong point, the limit is a fine line!! On minute your ok then bang, your under steering and spinning the wheels up!! These will be a tester for me as I've never had these budget tyres before, always Pirelli, Dunlop, Michelin, Goodyear or Toyo but they do seem a lot quieter than the toyo's!!! I'm a family man and as long as my wife feels safe when driving then that's fine, but when alone I'm a spirited driver and these are not for the faint hearted!! On a regular stretch of short straights and 3 roundabouts that I use they were all over the place, unlike the toyo's, but maybe this will slow me down a bit and that might not be a bad thing!!! I will come back and edit or add more to this once I have put a couple of thousand miles on them in all weathers and will give opinions on the wear and how they handle once worn in!!! But I can say for normal, safe and steady day to day driving they are perfectly fine!!!! They are directional which i think helps with noise and comfort and also have a rim protector built in too!!!

Given 83% while driving a Citroën Peugeot 307 XSI (205/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
I wrote the last review of these tyres in October when I had them fitted!! I'm back 3 months later, to say that I will buy again!!! They hold well in the dry now they're worn in a bit!! Wet roads are testing but but don't drive like a mad man and you'll be fine!!! Some roundabouts are an understeer nightmare when greasy and I've had a few where the front stays planted and the rear is rumbling as it just verges on oversteering!!! Wear rate is superb and they're quiet and very comfortable!!! Surprisingly surefooted when hitting large puddles at regular road speeds 20-30mph, never felt any aquaplaning considering the traction not being great in the wet!!!

Given 92% while driving a Ford Focus MK3 (205/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 4,000 spirited miles
This is a BUDGET tyre with a hard compound(which is why it wears so well)so it's unrealistic to expect a super-performance.It costs about 2/3 the price of a premium brand. I drive a Focus briskly rather than 'spirited' on a mix of road-types, and I have no complaints about this tyre(2 on front at present),either in the wet or dry.Sensible drivers don't aquaplane or drift round roundabouts. Some road surfaces and icy conditions will degrade ANY tyre's performance.I will happily add another 2 of these to the rear when the time comes.

Check out how the BEST all seasons tyres perform against premium summer and winter tyres!
Given 99% while driving a Citroën C4 (205/50 R17 W) on mostly motorways for 12,000 average miles
I usually buy Falken, thought I would try these as have read some good reviews elsewhere. The Betas were about £20 less than the Falken's for each tyre.
Grip in the dry and wet is perfectly good and the car feels very confident to drive. The noise is also very good as they are quiet.
The wear rate is very good and are lasting better than any other tyre I have tried so far. My only slight negative mark is there is maybe slightly less grip on roundabouts in the wet where the road is greasy, but this maybe not much different to any tyre. Great value for money and I will buy again.

Given 36% while driving a Toyota T Sport (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
I had inherited a brand new set of these. Greasy and wet roads a challenge and they lose pressure quicker than others. Breaking ok however my car only weighs 900kg. Traction bad. Winter performance terrible. If your after a cheap tyre the mid range Falken ZE912 is ideal for normal drivers on UK roads as they have better all season performance. If your spirited driver on a budget the mid range Kumo KU31 would be better bet.

Given 96% while driving a Ford Focus (205/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 8,000 easy going miles
Previously I'd always had fitted Continental or Pirelli fitted and was a bit dubious about these but what with having to make cut backs due to the wife losing her job etc. Anyway very happy and would/will have again, even the wife commented positvely on them. Due to my sat nav on shorest route setting ending up going through the 'Hardknot Pass' [look it up!] with them while it was bucketing it down and they didn't worry me at any point.

Given 50% while driving a Ford Focus MK1 (195/60 R15 V) on mostly town for 3,000 easy going miles
These tyres would be a good budget purchase if it wasn't for a horrific grip on wet surfaces! I can't really complain about them in dry conditions, but as soon as rain falls the car turns into soon-to-be-a-coffin-mobile. It aquaplanes even while doing 15-20 mph on the roundabouts making me think it is the last roundabout it my life...
