2023 ADAC Summer Tyre Test - 14th of 50 tyres

  • Positive - Still good on dry roads, good environmental balance.
  • Negative - Not quite balanced, slight weakness on wet roads (devaluation), significant weakness in sustainability
  • Overall - Driving safety: The Toyo Tires Proxes Comfort just missed out on a good result when it came to driving safety. The Toyo Tires Proxes Comfort offers the driver only average feedback on the steering wheel on dry roads, but still shows itself to be safe in the limit area. Thanks to its short braking distance, the Toyo Tires Proxes Comfort just about got a good rating for dry performance. The Toyo Tires Proxes Comfort narrowly missed out on a good rating on wet roads. Its performance is rated as satisfactory for both braking distance and aquaplaning measurements. In wet handling he still gets good ratings, but overall that's not enough to get a good result in the wet.

Environmental balance: In the environmental balance, the Proxes Comfort secured a good result in the test. Both its predicted mileage and its abrasion are rated as good. In addition, it can also get a good result with its low fuel consumption and low weight in terms of efficiency. In terms of sustainability, the tire produced in Japan does not go beyond a sufficient result.

Top 3 Toyo Proxes Comfort Reviews

Given 69% while driving a Alfa Romeo 156 1.6 TS (205/55 R16) on mostly motorways for 15,000 miles
It is not for sporty driving, in braking especially in the dry there is a problem and they make a strange sound, they are tires for daily calm driving without any driving interest they would not buy them again!

Given 90% while driving a Renault Renault Megane IV estate (205/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 54,000 average miles
Very good tyre, whit great grip level in dry roads and in the wet. Very good level of road feedback in fact it was better them my last tyres the Michelin primacy 3 who are set in my car when brought new. The wear I can't comment because the tyres are new, but it seems to be good as well. Confort is very good, this model is rated Confort and it was in fact. Very good tyre at good price from premium brand, so I will buy again and I recommend this tyre.

Very good tyre in both and dry road whit great grip and very good road feedback. Reacts very well to steering wheel movement, even on fast movement(for exemple to avoid obstacle). Confort is also very good whit low noise on the road. The wear I think whould good to, but the tyres are almost new now, so I will see in the future. I will buy again and whit good price I highly recomend this tyre.

Given 86% while driving a Honda Civic Diesel (205/55 R16) on mostly country roads for 20,000 average miles
Great tyres for the price, good feedback, holds the road great in all weather conditions. Would not hesitate to use these tyres again!

Given 67% while driving a Mazda Mazda2 (195/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
Very good for motorway driving and just gently around town, however they have limited feedback as soon as you push them, and ultimately produce a slight bit of understeer what feels like very early during a turn in both the wet and dry. For the price they're good enough, but I won't be buying these again.

Given 91% while driving a Citroën berlingo (195/65 R15) on a combination of roads for 4,000 average miles
Toyo proxies comfort tyres offer really good wet and dry performance for a reasonable price. Predictable in the wet too, they don’t aquaplane. Unless in VERY heavy rain/standing water, which all tires would struggle in. Comfortable and quiet on the motorway Wear levels are excellent for the price bracket they are in.7 months and 3-4000 miles and still look like new

Given 84% while driving a Volkswagen 6R 1.2 TSI 90 cv MT (185/60 R15) on mostly town for 2,000 easy going miles
Moved from Nexen n'blue hd plus to this Toyo. So far so good. 90% of use in the city and one or two holiday and weekend trips, on motorways and national roads (10%). Just perfect for city speeds, very quiet, predictable and safe.

Given 70% while driving a SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TSI 115 (195/55 R16) on mostly motorways for 500 easy going miles
I chose the Toyo Proxes Comfort because they had great price and Wet rating A. I have two on the rear and on the front I have two Michelin Energy Saver +. I can't really tell the difference from before when I had four of the above mentioned Michelin. They seem too have decent dry grip and feel good on wet too. I drive quite carefully and rarely push to the limit, although I must say I've done a couple of roundabouts and turns in a speedy manner without losing grip on the rear. So far so good, will see on the long run. For now, it's buy again
