Performance Analysis

Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The GT Radial IcePro 3 finished last of eight in the 2020 Vi Bilagare Studded Winter Tyre Test, despite leading several dry and wet disciplines. Dry braking was first at 28.88 metres and wet braking first at 33.87 metres, matching the testers' praise for stopping performance. It also set the quickest wet handling time, 43.11 seconds, and placed second for straight-line aquaplaning resistance, only 0.8% behind the best. This is a single comparison in 205/60 R16, so those results do not establish a record across several tests.

Snow and especially ice performance explain the weak overall finish. Snow braking and handling were both eighth, although the braking deficit was just 2.2%; snow traction placed seventh, 5.8% behind the best. Ice braking, traction and handling were all last, with much larger deficits of 54.8%, 74.1% and 19.9% respectively. The testers criticised snow and ice grip and handling at the limit, while subjective dry handling also ranked seventh despite the short braking distance. Fuel consumption was highest in the field, 2.1% above the lowest result. Its wet-road strengths therefore came with substantial compromises in the winter conditions central to this test.
