BFGoodrich Advantage All Season vs Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3

This head-to-head pits the BFGoodrich Advantage All Season against the newer, premium-leaning Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 in the core 17-18 inch sizes most popular with compact and midsize cars. Across four shared professional tests in 2024-2025, the Pirelli repeatedly finishes near the top, while the BFGoodrich delivers a more balanced, value-forward profile with notable winter aptitude.

Early signs of separation are clear: the Pirelli dominates dry and especially wet braking, and posts higher overall rankings. The BFGoodrich counters with stronger snow performance, lower consumption/rolling resistance in key tests, and often lower cost per 1,000 km-an attractive mix for budget-conscious drivers in colder regions.

Best Review for the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3
Given 80% 255/35 R19 on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
Genuinely seriously impressive tyre. I decided to use these as a winter tyre as I live in Scotland.

In dry conditions manages to have acceptable levels of grip in a straight line, slight wheel spin sometimes but cannot complain since the M2 is RWD 365bhp.

Very strong tyre in the dry and super progressive, really lets you know when it does begin to slip when doing spirited driving. A big strong point as these tyres still allow the vehicle to be driven in a sporting manner.

In the wet they are okay for wet straight line grip, it spins up pretty... Continue reading this review using the link below

Conclusion

The data shows a consistent pattern: the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 is the safer pick on dry and especially wet roads, with shorter braking distances (often 5-9% shorter) and better wet handling/aquaplaning resistance, plus strong projected mileage and an overall premium execution. If you prioritise all-weather safety with frequent rain exposure or spirited dry-road confidence, the Pirelli is the clear choice.

The BFGoodrich Advantage All Season excels when winter matters more than rain. It repeatedly leads on snow (braking, traction, handling) and shows advantages in noise, rolling resistance, and fuel consumption in key tests, alongside a friendlier cost profile. For drivers in cooler climates with occasional snow who value efficiency and price, the BFGoodrich offers compelling real-world value.
Key Differences
  • Wet safety: Pirelli consistently brakes 5-9% shorter and handles better in the wet
  • Dry braking: Pirelli stops shorter across all shared measurements
  • Snow performance: BFGoodrich leads in snow braking/traction/handling by small but repeatable margins
  • Aquaplaning: Pirelli shows higher straight and curved aquaplaning thresholds
  • Efficiency: BFGoodrich posts lower rolling resistance and fuel use in key tests
  • Value: BFGoodrich often cheaper per 1,000 km; Pirelli priced higher but with strong overall performance

Footnote

This page has been developed using tyre industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tyres in the same test.

Why is this important? Tyre testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tyre test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tyre tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tyre Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tyre comparison, Tyre Reviews doesn't.
