promobil 2026 All Season Motorhome and Van Tyre Test P1 of 6

The test winner, rated very good by promobil. The Continental VanContact 4Season took the win on the strength of its handling and cornering reserves in every condition, with no weak area on snow. Buyers who put the shortest possible wet braking distance above everything else will find the Goodyear and Michelin stronger there, but as an all-round package for a motorhome it was the most complete tyre in the test.

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 3 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The Continental VanContact 4Season won all three van all-season tests, with handling, snow ability and low rolling resistance its recurring strengths. It led wet handling in Auto Bild's 2020 test and promobil's 2026 test, while placing second of seven with promobil in 2020. Snow handling was first with promobil in 2020, second of nine with Auto Bild that year and third of six in 2026, when testers gave top subjective marks for snow balance. Rolling resistance was lowest in both 2020 tests and second of six in 2026. Promobil rated the 2026 winner very good, praising steering and balance across conditions.

Braking is less convincing than cornering. Dry braking was sixth of seven with promobil in 2020 and fifth of six in 2026, where wet braking was also fifth. Auto Bild's 2020 braking results were nearer mid-field. Straight aquaplaning resistance was below mid-field in every test, including last of six in 2026, and curved aquaplaning was fifth that year. Noise varies sharply: promobil's first-of-seven result in 2020 was unusually favourable beside seventh of ten with Auto Bild in 2020 and last of six in 2026. Comfort also received mixed assessments. The repeated wins reflect its overall balance, not consistently short braking distances or strong standing-water reserves.
