The Kumho Ecsta PS71 SUV has two Auto Bild Allrad summer tests, with sand traction and short braking distances the most consistent positives. It finished fourth of eleven in 2024 and sixth of ten in 2025. Sand traction was second in 2024 and third in 2025, while wet braking was fifth in both, only 3.2% and 4.7% longer than best. Dry stops of 34.9m in 2024 and 34.8m in 2025 also drew favourable tester comments, despite sixth- and fourth-place finishes respectively.

Wet handling was third of eleven in 2024 and fifth of ten in 2025. Aquaplaning results were unusually less competitive in the later test: second for curved and third for straight aquaplaning in 2024 became sixth and seventh in 2025, in a different size and field. Off-road ability is not equally strong everywhere, with grass traction seventh and ninth. Noise was last at 72.8dB in 2024 and eighth at 64.4dB in 2025; those separate measurements should not be read as a direct noise reduction. Rolling resistance was below midfield in both tests, and comfort drew criticism in 2024. The testers nevertheless regarded its overall behaviour as safe and its pricing as moderate, with sand grip stronger than refinement or efficiency.
