The BEST Streetable Track Tyres in 2026 Tested P2 of 5

The Vitour Tempesta P1+ was the strongest “one-lap window” tyre of this group. After a gradual warm-up lap, the first push lap was outstandingly quick and the tyre felt sharp, direct and very grippy. The problem was that the thermal drop-off came quickly: by lap two it had lost a lot of performance, and by lap three it had fallen away further before settling at that reduced level. By the end of the run, the rears and even the left front were clearly overheated. When it was in its window it was very likeable, with excellent grip and direct steering, but the rear axle eventually felt like it had fallen off a cliff. It is a fast tyre in a narrow operating window, but not as strong as the Nankang over repeated laps.

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 2 tests. Updated August 9, 2026.

The Vitour Tempesta P1 plus shows a strong overall pattern as a credible track-focused summer tyre, finishing 2nd and 3rd in two highly competitive tests and receiving Recommended awards both times. Its standout quality is dry subjective performance and driver confidence, supported by a 1st place subjective dry handling result in 2026 and 2nd place subjective dry handling in 2025, while objective dry performance was also strong in 2025 with 2nd place in both dry braking and dry handling.

However, the tyre is much less convincing outside dry track use. In the 2025 test it was consistently near the bottom in wet braking, wet handling, subjective wet handling, aquaplaning and rolling resistance, including last place in four of those categories. The 2026 dry timed handling results were also weaker than its subjective feel, finishing 5th/5 in dry handling and 4th/4 in long-run handling, suggesting that while it feels excellent and remains competitive overall, outright timed pace may vary depending on test group and conditions.

The FASTEST Track Tyres In The World Tested

Tyre Reviews 235/35 R19 Tested by Tyre Reviews Recommended

The Vitour Tempesta P1 was competitive on pace, tying for 2nd in dry handling and taking 2nd in dry braking, with a strong subjective dry score as well. The problems were in the wet, where it was 4th in wet braking, 4th in wet handling, 4th in subjective wet handling, and also last in straight-line aquaplaning speed. It also had the highest rolling resistance. I feel this tyre is best suited to short stints such as autocross rather than long sessions on track.
