Performance Analysis
Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.
The Yokohama iceGUARD iG65 finished sixth of eight in Vi Bilagare's 2018 Vi Studded Winter Tyre Test, in 205/55 R16. Its better results were snow braking, third and only 0.3% longer than best, and snow traction, also third with a 4.5% gap. Rolling resistance was second, 1.7% above the lowest result. The testers also praised wet stopping, which ranked fourth at 56.47 metres, 2.5% longer than the shortest distance. These results show useful braking and efficiency strengths in this comparison.
Handling on winter surfaces was less convincing. Snow handling was sixth, 4.4% behind best, and ice handling sixth, 10.9% behind. Ice braking was also sixth, 15.5% longer than best, although ice traction was mid-field at fourth. Testers specifically criticised poor snow and ice handling and high noise. Dry braking was sixth too, but the distance gap was relatively small at 2.3%. This single test therefore shows stronger snow stopping and acceleration than cornering, with low rolling resistance but clear noise and ice-grip compromises; it does not establish consistency across other sizes or tests.
