Performance Analysis
Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.
The Bridgestone DriveGuard finished first of ten in Motor's 2017 Mid Range Tyre Test, its only independent test here. Tested in 205/55 R16 against touring tyres, including conventional non-runflat competition, it combined strong wet results with small gaps to the best dry performances. It was first of ten in wet handling and second in wet braking, where its 49.6 m stop was 2.1% behind the best. The testers praised its precise steering on both wet and dry roads and its grip, which agrees with those measured results.
On dry roads, it was second of ten in handling, just 0.1% behind the quickest, and third in braking with a 39 m stop, 0.8% from the best. Those results make the win a balanced one rather than a result resting on one discipline. Noise was the stated drawback: Motor found it louder than the best tyre in the test, while still considering it good for a runflat. There is no measured noise result here to put a margin on that criticism. This is a promising single-test showing, but it does not establish how consistently the tyre would perform across other sizes or tests.
