Performance Analysis
Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 29, 2026.
The Continental Eco Contact 3 finished first of four in Tyre Reviews' 2011 Long Term Subjective Touring Shootout, where it was the sole premium tyre against two mid-range models and one budget model. The testers judged its dry grip and wet grip best, and also called it the quietest and most comfortable tyre. It returned better fuel economy than the others. These are favourable findings for ordinary touring use, but they come from a single subjective comparison in 165/65 R13, rather than a broad record of measured braking and handling tests.
The drawback was steering feel. The testers found the dynamic behaviour unclear at times, describing a feeling of the tyre folding onto its sidewalls during hard cornering. That qualifies the grip praise: it could hold the road well in their assessment while still giving less confidence about what it was doing near its limit. The comfort and economy findings should therefore be read alongside this handling compromise, with the small and mixed-price field in mind.
