The Continental Extremecontact DWS 06 combined the fastest wet-handling lap with good comfort in the 2020 Tyre Reviews UHP All Season Tyre Test. It finished fifth of seven overall and was Recommended. Wet handling was first at 49.65 seconds, while comfort was second at 9.5 points and subjective noise third at 8.5 points. Testers praised all three areas. Snow braking and snow handling were also second, although they trailed the respective leaders by 7.9% and 7.1%; snow traction was third, 17.3% behind best.
Dry performance was more ordinary. Dry braking ranked fourth of seven, 3.4% longer than best, and dry handling fifth, 2% slower. The testers described a comfort-biased feel, closer to a touring tyre than a UHP tyre, so its wet-road pace did not translate into the same sharpness in the dry. Wet braking also needs separating from wet handling: it was fifth, though only 2% longer than the shortest stop. This one test in 245/40 R18 supports a tyre with wet-handling and refinement strengths, rather than uniformly leading performance in every discipline.
