Performance Analysis

Drawn from 5 tests. Updated July 14, 2026.

Across five UHP all-season comparisons, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS shows consistently high overall competitiveness (average overall position 2, including a 1st place with a Highly Recommended award). The strongest recurring pattern is its wet-road capability-especially wet handling-where it repeatedly ranks at or near the top with very small gaps to the best, and it also pairs that with strong dry grip/handling that typically sits in the top half of the field.

Its main trade-offs are refinement/value rather than outright performance: noise results range from mid-pack to last depending on test, and price/value was poor in the 2023 test despite excellent wear. Winter performance is mixed: it can be very strong on ice (best in one large test) and decent in snow handling, but snow traction/braking can lag the best winter-biased UHP all-seasons by noticeable margins.

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus finished third with 98.5 points. Cornering and dry braking are top-tier; build consistency and the lane-change result are the weak points. A solid choice for drivers who want a lighter UHP all-season tyre with strong steady-state grip.

2024 Tire Rack UHP All Season Tyre Test

Tire Rack 225/45 R18

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus offered a generally comfortable road ride, softening larger hits and absorbing smaller imperfections with poise, though with a touch of residual motion. Noise was well-mitigated, and the steering feel was subdued and responsive but not particularly eager or lively. On the wet track, the steering continued to be unexciting and flat, but this was paired with strong traction and compliant, well-balanced behavior, resulting in a neutral and capable performance. The dry track experience was more refreshing, where the tyre felt intuitive and athletic, held back only by its somewhat flat steering. During winter testing, it showcased admirable performance, accelerating well and being easy to drive, but it was somewhat unbalanced, as its braking didn't feel matched to its acceleration, and cornering required managing both front and rear grip.
