Braking and comfort were the main strengths of the Cooper Zeon RS3 G1 in the 2020 Tyre Reviews UHP All Season Tyre Test, where it finished fourth of seven and was Recommended. Wet braking was joint best at 18.84 m, while dry braking was third, 2.4% longer than the shortest stop. It also received the highest comfort score. The testers described its character as closer to a touring tyre than a particularly sporty UHP option.
Handling was less competitive than braking: dry lap time was sixth, 2.3% off the best, and wet handling fifth, although only 0.5% slower than the fastest lap. Subjective wet handling was sixth, reinforcing the less sporting impression rather than implying a large lap-time deficit. Snow results were the clearer limitation, with last place in all three measured disciplines: braking was 21.4% longer than the best, traction 25.5% behind and handling 10.9% slower. The Recommended result therefore sits alongside a substantial snow-performance gap, rather than consistent strength across all seasons. This is one test in 245/40 R18, so consistency across other sizes is not established.
