The Maxtrek MAXIMUS M1 finished near the bottom in both independent tests, with wet braking a recurring weakness. In Auto Bild's 2021 53 Summer Tyre Braking Test it was 52nd of 53 overall, stopping 55.1% farther than the best in the wet and placing 48th in dry braking. In the 2023 Tyre Reviews budget comparison it finished eighth of nine against eight budget tyres and one premium tyre. Wet braking was sixth, but the stopping distance was still 37.6% longer than the best. Dry braking was a relative improvement at fifth, although 11.5% behind the shortest stop.
The 2023 test also found limited aquaplaning resistance, with eighth of nine in both disciplines, while noise and rolling resistance were last. The tester judged it one of the more expensive budget options without performance to justify that price. There were some better subjective results: wet handling and comfort were both third of nine. The wet handling assessment was unusually favourable beside seventh in the timed lap, 10.7% behind the quickest, so it should not be read as strong wet grip. Comfort is a useful positive from that test, but the repeated braking shortfalls and weak aquaplaning results leave a poor overall record.
