2022/23 Best 9 All Terrain Tyres P9 of 9

The Nitto Terra Grappler G2 might not be the most expensive tire of the group, but we expected more from the Nitto brand. Sadly, the Terra Grappler was out classed on nearly every surface, and most worryingly had extremely long wet braking, stopping the F150 over 16 meters longer than the best of the group - when the best tire in the test had you stopped safely, you'll still be traveling 27 mph on the Nitto from just 50 mph.

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The Nitto Terra Grappler G2 finished ninth of nine in the 2022/23 Tyre Reviews Best 9 All Terrain Tyres test. Wet performance was the main concern: braking required 74.05 metres, 27.7% longer than the best, and wet handling was last on time and subjectively. The wet-circle result was also last. The testers found its wet balance difficult and highlighted the long stopping distance as the most serious limitation. Low purchase price was their only stated positive.

Dry handling was slowest too, although the subjective score was second of nine, so its feel was better regarded than its pace. Dry braking was sixth, 5% behind the best. Off-road results were mixed rather than a compensating strength: gravel handling was last, while the dirt lap ranked fourth but its subjective dirt score was eighth. Rolling resistance was highest, 16% behind the best, and measured noise was eighth of nine despite a more favourable subjective noise score. Comfort ranked seventh. This single assessment points to broad compromises across wet roads, efficiency and refinement, with limited evidence of an off-road advantage to offset them.
