Everything you need to know about the Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV

Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUVMichelin have just announced the successor to the hugely popular Michelin CrossClimate SUV all season / all weather tyre, the new Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV!

As with the CrossClimate 2 launch, Michelin are heavily focused on the overall performance of the new SUV four season tyre, claiming to be the leader in braking on snow covered, dry and wet roads, and being the leader in longevity.

To back up those figures, Michelin had the German independant test body TUV test the grip of the CrossClimate 2 SUV at new and worn (buffed to 2mm), and DEKRA test the longevity of the tyre.

The results are impressive, especially worn in snow.

TUV Snow Braking 50-0 kph

  • MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 SUV (new : 30,5m - worn : 38,4m)
  • BRIDGESTONE Weather Control A005 EVO (new : 37,1 m - worn : 57,3 m)
  • CONTINENTAL AllSeasonContact (new : 32,6 m - worn : 46,0 m)
  • GOODYEAR Vector 4Seasons SUV Gen-3 (new : 33,9 m - worn : 45,8 m)
  • PIRELLI Scorpion Vere All Season SF (new : 42,5 m - worn : 62,7 m)

Extrapolation from 30-10 km/h to 50-0 km/h is based on the mean decelerations resulting from the measured braking distances achieved in the actual tests

TUV Wet Braking 80-20 kph

  • MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 SUV (new : 26,5m - worn : 37,3m)
  • BRIDGESTONE Weather Control A005 EVO (new : 27,5 m - worn : 37,9 m)

  • PIRELLI Scorpion Vere All Season SF (-1,543 km)

Longevity test run in average real usage (D50) with 11,568 km run and extrapolated longevity at 1.6mm.

The MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 SUV tire will be available in 40 dimensions from 17 to 20 inches

Hopefully Tyre Reviews will get to test this exciting new SUV all season tyre in the near future, but for now here's the launch video, and then the press release.

The latest member of  the MICHELIN CrossClimate range, the expert 4-season tires, for SUVs

On May 1, Michelin is launching the MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 SUV tire in Europe.

A new generation of 4-season tires that combine multiple performances, the MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 SUV tire allows you to contend with the majority of weather conditions, no matter the season. A 3PMSF (3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake) certified tire, it copes with drops in temperature and occasional snowfall.

The leader for braking on snow, and on dry and wet ground, as well as for traction on snow1

The MICHELIN CrossClimate SUV tire benefits from an innovative combination of cutting-edge technologies such as the MICHELIN EverGrip technologies that contribute to optimize braking on dry, wet, or snow-covered ground.

The expert 4-season tire, MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 SUV is the leading tire

  • for braking on:
  • snow, an average of 5 meters;
  • wet ground, 2 meters on average (tires at the legal wear limit);
  • and dry ground.

Compared to its competitors, it thus allows for gaining almost 20% traction on snow.

The MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 SUV tire is homologated for winter use and consequently benefits from the 3PMSF mark.

The leader in terms of longevity, with no comprise on safety: performances made to last right up to the legal wear limit

Thanks to the MaxTouch Construction technology, the MICHELIN CrossClimate 2 SUV tire allows for driving an additional 5000 kilometers on average, compared to premium competitor tires, while maintaining a high level of safety, even when the tire is at legal tread wear limit-3-4, and regardless of the weather conditions.

By avoiding premature removal every season, the tires are changed less often. Drivers can therefore control their budgets thanks to an extended tire lifespan. Less tires to replace also means less material to be used and less waste generated for the planet.

It is aimed at drivers seeking a safe ride first and foremost, regardless of the SUV category.
