Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 vs Vredestein Quatrac Pro Plus

Two of the most talked-about all-season touring tyres right now-Pirelli's Cinturato All Season SF3 and Vredestein's Quatrac Pro Plus-target year-round usability with different philosophies. Across five shared professional tests spanning passenger cars, SUVs and camper-van fitments, the Pirelli consistently chases a premium, do-it-all balance, while the Vredestein leans toward value with an emphasis on wet grip and low noise.

The headline: Pirelli wins all five tests, repeatedly topping dry and wet braking, aquaplaning resistance, snow traction/handling, comfort and efficiency, often by meaningful margins (e.g., up to ~12% shorter dry stops and ~10-22% better aquaplaning resistance). Vredestein counters with strong subjective quietness, competitive wet handling pace in some tests, and a lower price orientation-but it trails in precision and stopping power, especially on dry roads and in deeper water or snow.

While it might look like the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 is better than the Vredestein Quatrac Pro Plus purely based on the higher number of test wins, tyres are very complicated objects which means where one tyre is better than the other can be more important in real world use.

Let's look at how the two tyres compare across multiple tyre test categories.

Key Strengths

  • Class-leading dry and wet braking across tests (e.g., ~8-12% shorter dry stops)
  • Outstanding aquaplaning resistance (straight and curved, +10-22% advantages)
  • Strong snow/ice traction and confident snow handling
  • Low rolling resistance and abrasion with good comfort
  • Low external noise and pleasant ride
  • Competitive wet handling pace in select tests
  • Value-oriented pricing with decent wear
  • Balanced everyday manners for mild climates

Best Review for the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3
Given 80% 255/35 R19 on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
Genuinely seriously impressive tyre. I decided to use these as a winter tyre as I live in Scotland.

In dry conditions manages to have acceptable levels of grip in a straight line, slight wheel spin sometimes but cannot complain since the M2 is RWD 365bhp.

Very strong tyre in the dry and super progressive, really lets you know when it does begin to slip when doing spirited driving. A big strong point as these tyres still allow the vehicle to be driven in a sporting manner.

In the wet they are okay for wet straight line grip, it spins up pretty... Continue reading this review using the link below

Best Review for the Vredestein Quatrac Pro Plus
Given 92% 245/45 R18 on a combination of roads for 5,000 average miles
I fitted these tires two months ago and drove them for about 5000 miles on different types of roads, from city traffic to highways. I find the tires to be very quiet, although they came to replace some pretty much worn-out Michelin RFTs so my feeling might be a little biased.
Although I didn't get to drive them in winter temps yet, they seem to stick to the road very well for summer driving. They felt planted at speeds up to 120 mph (didn't take them further than that so can't tell), but a little slippery in corner acceleration on twisty roads, particularly on hot tarmac.

Conclusion

If you want the most complete all-season performer, the Cinturato All Season SF3 is the clear choice. It brakes shorter on dry and wet roads in nearly every test, resists aquaplaning markedly better, and is repeatedly quicker and more composed on snow. It also scores well for comfort, rolling resistance and wear, underpinning its five-for-five test-win sweep.

The Quatrac Pro Plus remains a sensible, lower-cost option for mild climates and day-to-day commuting: it's quiet, reasonably comfortable, and can feel confident in the wet at steady speeds. However, its longer dry braking, merely adequate precision, and weaker aquaplaning and winter margins limit its appeal for enthusiastic drivers or those facing varied weather. Bottom line: choose Pirelli for broad-spectrum safety and capability; choose Vredestein if you prioritize price and quietness in mostly mild, rainy use.
Key Differences
  • Braking performance: Pirelli consistently stops shorter on dry and wet (often 3-5 m advantage on dry).
  • Aquaplaning: Pirelli shows notably higher float speeds and lateral stability (+10-22%).
  • Winter capability: Pirelli leads snow traction/handling and ice braking; Vredestein is middling on snow.
  • Handling precision: Pirelli offers sharper steering and limit behavior; Vredestein feels softer with delayed responses.
  • Efficiency and wear: Pirelli generally lower rolling resistance and abrasion, slight edge in projected mileage.
  • Comfort/noise/value: Vredestein is quieter and typically cheaper; Pirelli is more comfortable but pricier.

Footnote

This page has been developed using tyre industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tyres in the same test.

Why is this important? Tyre testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tyre test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tyre tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tyre Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tyre comparison, Tyre Reviews doesn't.
