Vredestein Quatrac Pro+

The Vredestein Quatrac Pro Plus is a mid-range touring all-season tyre that majorly impresses in the wet, combining confident wet-road handling with a quiet, comfortable motorway demeanour. Real-world drivers also report reassuring traction in typical winter conditions and stable high-speed cruising. However, professional testing consistently highlights compromises in dry braking/handling, aquaplaning resistance and true snow/ice performance, so it is best viewed as a wet-weather-biased all-season rather than a winter specialist.

The Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ is an excellent all-weather option that provides a pleasant and quiet daily drive with natural, lively steering. It feels agile and authoritative on the wet track, with performance on par with the test's best. In winter, it is absolutely in its element, delivering confident and controlled performance in the snow with forgiving handling. Its only notable quirk was a sensitivity to speed during dry emergency lane change maneuvers, which it struggled with just over the target speed.
5th/6
The Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ finishes in fifth place, losing out to its immediate rivals primarily due to poor fuel efficiency scores and weaker snow performance. The Dutch tyre is not as well-balanced as competitors, showing very good performance on wet asphalt with short braking distances and high lateral grip, while also performing reasonably well on dry surfaces. However, it significantly loses points in winter conditions, where it demonstrates the weakest snow performance in the test. The tyre also suffers from the highest rolling resistance coefficient in the group, negatively impacting fuel economy. Despite these shortcomings, the Quatrac Pro+ maintains strong wet weather capabilities, making it suitable for drivers prioritizing wet performance over winter competence.
Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ receives a "satisfactory" rating as the most affordable brand-name tyre in the test. It delivers balanced performance on wet and dry surfaces, making it a reasonable budget option among established brands. However, the tyre shows minor weaknesses in curve aquaplaning and provides only moderate performance levels on snow-covered surfaces.

Review Summary

Based on 9 user reviews

Drivers of the Vredestein Quatrac Pro Plus report strong all-season capability with confident wet and snow traction, good high-speed stability, and a quiet, comfortable ride. Many found grip reliable across typical daily and motorway use, including winter trips, with several noting solid performance even in heat. A recurring criticism is a softer sidewall that can feel squishy and reduce steering precision, and a few mention slightly weaker dry cornering limits in hot conditions versus dedicated summer tyres. Overall sentiment is notably positive with the negatives being minority concerns.

Strengths
  • Strong wet and snow traction
  • Quiet and comfortable ride
  • Stable at motorway speeds
  • Good overall grip for all-season use
Areas for Improvement
  • Soft sidewalls/vague steering feel
  • Slightly weaker dry cornering grip in hot conditions vs summer tyres

Top 3 Vredestein Quatrac Pro Plus Reviews

Given 94% while driving a BMW M240i (245/35 R18) on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
I bought these based on the review from tyrereviews.com on youtube where they did a comparison with about 8 different all season options and a summer and winter dedicated tyre thrown in to show the difference in performance. Have had dedicated winter tyres before, Yokohamas, Conti Winter Contact, and Vredestein all of which are really solid on snowy roads. I am very happy with the all round performance of the Quatrac Pro Plus All Seasons. They have been great in normal UK driving conditions during winter and now some warmer days. When using the dedicated winter tyres you can feel them sliding a little on warm dry days at the limit as the compound is softer and less suited to those conditions. However i have to say i've not felt that with the Quatracs, they remain grippy for as far as i've wanted to push them on warm dry, cold wet etc conditions in the UK. I have also had them out in the Alps for several weeks over winter, and they didn't let me down there either, some snowy roads and with appropriate driving they are solid in that environment as well. The tyre i had before on this car when i bought it last year did offer more assured dry grip was summer Pirelli Powergy, but i will keep with the Quatracs now, they are a really excellent tyre and when i'm out in the Alps i know they'll keep me right.

Given 80% while driving a Subaru BRZ (215/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 250 spirited miles
After 4 years and 33,000 km the excellent Quatrac Pro have hardened and are very close to the legal limit for an AS (4mm). Time and wear have made them wagging, still valid in the wet and very reactive in the dry, but on snow they would have been nothing short of a gamble.

And since I will be going to Germany again in January with the brz and the Quatrac Pro were not available, I recently mounted the Quatrac Pro+ (215/45/17 91Y XL B/C utqg400/A/A).

The Q.Pro+ have a softer carcass and sidewall, are less reactive, have a different compound more oriented to wet/snow and also require more running-in (at least 500 km).

The always very nice design remains unchanged with an appreciable footprint of the tread and the characteristic wide central rib.

At first I optimistically thought I could mount the Q.Pro+ only on the rear, leaving the old Q.Pro on the front which with a generous 5mm could have done another 10,000 km. But all the differences mentioned above are overall so important that, in the few days I rode with the new ones only on the rear, at every minimal change of direction I could perceive a clear oversteer combined with an appreciable lateral instability of the rear (cobblestone sensation, so to speak), practically disappeared, net of the remaining wax to dispose of, once the new ones were mounted on the front as well. I didn't think that the lack of homogeneity between the two axles could be so problematic. It was basically like having a summer tyre on the front and a winter tyre on the rear with the consequences of the case.

I will do a full review around 5000 km.

Given 91% while driving a Skoda Rapid TDI (215/40 R17) on a combination of roads for 100 average miles
Just ordered a set of 4 vredestein quatrac pro+ 215/40/R17 for our skoda Rapid.Via Blackcircles fitted by Pro tyres Eastleigh. Ride appears to be comparable to the Goodyear Asymmetric 6's that we had been running on. Will see what they are like in the snow etc. All went smoothly.

Initial Impressions Review
Given 69% while driving a BMW 320D (225/45 R17) on for 12,000 miles
I fitted these tires to my BMW 320d back in fall, they have been quit allright since. I am disapointed by the lack of road feedback and an squishy feeling, even after after adjusting the tire pressure to the maximum. They offer good grip in any situations, I never felt unsafe and the griplevels support sporty driving, but as I said, the issue is the unprecise steering feel and a "deadspot" in the middle which makes it worse. The tires would perform great on an less sporty vehicle than an BMW, I suppose. Maybe I am just used to the Goodyears I had on before.

Tyres seem ok for daily use. Used recently in the aftermath of heavy snow which has now compacted down. Felt very confident in these conditions. This was on my VW Transporter van.

Initial Impressions Review
Given 79% while driving a Renault Scenic (195/55 R20) on a combination of roads for 12,500 easy going miles
I have these fitted on a Renault Scenic 4. Due to the odd tyre size this car is infamous for erasing its front tyre's rubber in a very short timeframe. It also often produces 'sawtooth' wear patterns with directional tyres. So I fitted the only asymetric product available: Vredestein Quartrac Pro +. I've Run it for 20,000 km now and it works flawlessly. It was driven in Central European climate and it helped me ascend snowy hills and also worked well during the hear waves in summer. Will buy again when worn.

Given 76% while driving a Subaru BRZ (215/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 0 spirited miles
5.000 km (spring, summer 20°C to 36°C)
After approximately 4.000 km, the tire, with just under 1 mm of wear, has completed its break-in period. On highway trips up to 160 km/h, even in temperatures well above 30°C, it is an extremely comfortable tire, more so than the Q.Pro version, which was already excellent. The slowness and insincerity of the first few kilometers have given way to a responsive and predictable feel (it's as if the characteristics initially encountered up to 80 km/h have extended to at least double that speed). Sudden changes of direction are more linear and easier to handle than at the beginning, although a tendency toward oversteer, already noted with the previous version, remains. The softer sidewall compared to the Q.Pro version obviously results in less steering precision, but this can be well compensated for by adequate anticipation of maneuvers, once you become familiar with the characteristic inertias. On the usual track, consisting of a rapid succession of about twenty corners taken in third gear at around 6000 rpm, I noticed a reduced margin of grip at the limit. When drifting, however, it expresses good balance, proving very manageable and fun, so much so that it often encourages a bit of rough driving.

Given 92% while driving a BMW 520d (245/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 5,000 average miles
I fitted these tires two months ago and drove them for about 5000 miles on different types of roads, from city traffic to highways. I find the tires to be very quiet, although they came to replace some pretty much worn-out Michelin RFTs so my feeling might be a little biased.
Although I didn't get to drive them in winter temps yet, they seem to stick to the road very well for summer driving. They felt planted at speeds up to 120 mph (didn't take them further than that so can't tell), but a little slippery in corner acceleration on twisty roads, particularly on hot tarmac.
I am not worried about winter performance as I've run Vredesteins before and I trust the brand mainly for winter capabilities.
Overall I find them reasonable as a year-round alternative and will wait to see if I can get more than a year's worth out of them.

Given 81% while driving a Mazda MX5 2.0 SE (ND 2015 onwards) (205/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 2,000 spirited miles
Great A/S, very sticky AND solid, acting precise. Driven sporty lasting less than my favorit AD08RS (5 vs. 7Tkm) but at equal level of fun! Since December 3Tkm mainly mountain roads driven at temp below 20 Celsius, worried about higher ambient/tarmac temp worse wear. Will buy again in autum.
