Data updated

Which should you buy?

Choose the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3R if you want the quickest and most repeatable dry track pace once warm, with high stability and easy-to-drive-at-the-limit behavior. Choose the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RZ if you want a more versatile street-and-track tyre with quicker warm-up and strong heat/wear resilience, accepting a typical deficit in ultimate dry lap time and a front-end that can wash wide when pushed.

Where the Potenza RE 71 RZ is stronger

  • Fast warm-up and strong early-run readiness; described as “quick straight away” with good warm-up, braking and friendly corner exit behavior
  • Heat and wear resilience in the Tire Rack test: degraded the least across the day and gave up the least tread, aiding repeatability over longer use
  • More flexible street/track positioning (bridges categories); best suited to drivers wanting one set that can commute and still lap competitively

In each test the better of the two figures counts as 100% and the other as its share of it, so a 36 m stop against 34.2 m is 95%; each spoke averages the shared tests that recorded it.

Every measurement, side by side

Averages of the figures both tyres posted in the same tests. The gap is the average of each test's own gap, so figures from different cars and years are never mixed. Open a discipline for its measurements, and a measurement for every test's figure.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Scores beyond the shared tests

These re71RZ are absolutely magic.
I ran the RS before, and had some issues with them not liking any combined inputs.
Braking and turning on corner entry with RS was not great, RZ seem to have zero issues with it.
wear is also excellent
38 autocross runs and 1,000 street miles and still at 7/32 tread
These tires have gotten me as far as 2nd in PAX with heavy hitter national champions in the mix.
I've never been even remotely that far up.
They warm up fairly quick
like to be around 120F-125F for autocross
I spray them with water and start runs around 115F
that way when I finish, the tire is around 130F
steering is crazy precise
they make a small amount of noise at the limit
seem to be picking up grip after a few heat cycles.
I'll update the review after a few track days.

Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3R

Drivers report the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3R delivers exceptional dry/track grip, often described as "best non-slick" performance with very predictable, confidence-inspiring breakaway once up to temperature. Reviews consistently praise its communication and stability at the limit, with several noting it can still be relatively quiet and comfortable for such a track-focused tyre. The main recurring drawback is that it needs some warm-up/heat to reach peak performance; other criticisms (street value, wet performance, size availability) appear only occasionally.

  • exceptional dry/track grip (near-slick levels)
  • predictable, communicative handling at the limit
  • strong performance once warmed up
  • surprisingly good road comfort and low noise for a track-focused tyre
  • requires warm-up/heat to deliver best grip

Compared to the Toyo RRR this tire needs a brief warm up to really perform.
Dry grip is exceptional even when pushed to the point that the tire is smoking and never feels greasy .
communication is great letting you know when you are at your limit or just past it with no sudden breaking away.
Wet grip is acceptable for what it is but falls off as tire becomes worn.
Tire comfort great without the loud hum of the Toyo 888.
I use 888 for my rear wheel drive Corvette as nothing hooks like these cold short of slicks.
The Supercar 3R I use on my Subaru wrx sti which often see driving at the limit in the mountains.

Reading the results

Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.

This is a very focused head-to-head between two of the most serious “streetable track” summer tyres you can buy: Bridgestone's Potenza RE-71RZ (an Extreme-Performance Summer tyre that aims to blend road usability with real pace) versus Goodyear's Eagle F1 SuperCar 3R (a Trackday-and-Competition tyre that leans harder toward outright lap time). Both have strong reputations, but the data here is especially useful because it comes from overlapping 275/35 R18 track tests where consistency, warm-up behavior and long-run pace all matter.

Across the shared testing, the story is clear: the Goodyear generally sets the benchmark for raw dry grip and repeatable speed once it's up to temperature, while the Bridgestone fights back with quicker “out of the box” readiness and a more flexible, street-friendly personality. The gap between them isn't about whether either tyre is fast (both are), but about how they deliver pace-immediate response and versatility versus maximum grip and a calmer, more planted platform at the limit.

Conclusion

On objective dry lap time, the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3R is the stronger performer across the shared results. It won every measured category in Tire Rack's 2026 Streetable Track Tyre Test, edging the RE-71RZ by small but consistent margins (about 0.4-0.7% in the various dry handling runs: 99.18s vs 99.85s single-lap, and 100.58s vs 101.00s long-run). In the second 2026 comparison, it again showed a clear grip advantage on the headline dry handling time (98.6s vs 101.66s, a ~3.0% advantage), and testers repeatedly described it as the easiest tyre to drive fast thanks to its stability, traction, and low fall-off once warm.

The Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RZ's counterpunch is usability and resilience. It's consistently described as quick to come in (strong warm-up, good early-run pace), and Tire Rack noted it “degraded the least” over the day and even improved relative standing when heat arrived-an important trait for drivers doing long sessions, hot-lap-to-hot-lap consistency, or mixed street/track use. Its main dynamic drawback is balance/feel at the limit: it can overload the front into understeer mid-corner and doesn't feel as securely planted as the Goodyear, even when the lap-time gap is modest.

Practical takeaway: if your priority is the fastest, most confidence-inspiring dry pace once up to temperature-especially for committed trackday use-the SuperCar 3R is the more “track-first” tool. If you want a tyre that warms quickly, holds up well across heat and wear, and makes more sense as a single set for commuting and lapping, the RE-71RZ is the more flexible all-rounder even if it typically gives away ultimate pace.

Where this data comes from

Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tyres ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.

About the TR Score

The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tyres can be compared even before a test has run them together.

Who does the testing

Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
