Which should you buy?
Choose the Bridgestone Potenza Sport Evo if you want the more premium, confidence-led tyre with sharper steering response and stronger wet/variable-surface control (especially in SUV fitments). Choose the Giti GitiSport S2+ if you want the best value with very competitive braking and lower noise in common road-focused testing-accepting that its performance appears more variable across test formats and may offer a smaller wet “safety buffer” in some scenarios.
Where the Potenza Sport Evo is stronger
- Stronger wet safety margin in the SUV test: wet braking 52.3 m vs 60.1 m and higher wet handling speed (88.9 vs 83.8 km/h)
- More dynamic, precise handling character per testers; fastest dry handling in the SUV test (106.6 km/h) with direct steering response
- Better comfort and durability indicators in Autobild: higher comfort score (8 vs 6.7) plus better wear/abrasion (51,860 km and 1,533 g)

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

Bridgestone Potenza Sport Evo

Drivers report the Bridgestone Potenza Sport Evo delivers outstanding dry grip and exceptionally strong wet traction, with very sharp turn-in and confident, stable handling that suits fast road use and even track days. Many also feel wear and track durability are improved versus the older Potenza Sport, and value-for-money is frequently praised against Michelin/Continental rivals. The main recurring drawback is higher road noise and a firmer, stiff-sidewall ride, which can reduce refinement on quieter cars.
- Excellent dry grip
- Very strong wet grip and confidence in rain/cold conditions
- Sharp steering response and quick turn-in
- Stable, predictable handling with strong braking/traction
- Noticeably higher road noise/roar
- Firm ride and stiff sidewalls (reduced comfort/refinement for some)

All 16 Potenza Sport Evo reviewsBefore switching to the Bridgestone Potenza Sport Evo (in size 205/45/17), I had the Yokohama Advan Neova RS (in size 205/55/17). The difference is night and day—in favor of the Bridgestones. Their grip and user-friendliness are on an entirely different level; they are in a different league compared to the unacceptable Yokohama Advan Neova RS, whose only real advantage was minimal wear.
The Bridgestones seem much more prone to wear, but that’s a fair trade-off given their excellent performance—after all, you can’t have everything. I can’t comment on their performance in the rain, as I haven’t had the chance to drive in such conditions yet.
To wrap up, they are quiet and feature a very solid sidewall—though perhaps not quite as good as those found on older Bridgestone models.
I recommend them without hesitation!

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
This is an interesting head-to-head because both tyres sit in the same “max-performance summer” bracket, yet the shared tests paint two very different stories depending on test type and priorities. The Bridgestone Potenza Sport Evo is positioned as a premium, dynamics-led option, while the Giti GitiSport S2+ is the value-brand challenger that, in some braking-focused and mainstream summer tests, posts genuinely competitive numbers.
Across three shared 2026 tests, the results split: Bridgestone dominates the 255/45 R19 summer SUV test (2nd vs 9th) with a clear wet-safety and handling advantage, while Giti shines in the 245/45 R19 Autobild test (4th vs 11th) and the 52-tyre braking shootout (5th vs 11th) thanks to marginally shorter braking distances, strong aquaplaning speeds, lower noise, and a big cost-efficiency edge. The key is understanding whether you're buying for ultimate control/feel (especially in mixed-surface contexts) or for “most performance per dollar” in typical road use.
Conclusion
On outright dynamic ability and control, the Potenza Sport Evo is the more driver-focused tyre and the safer bet when conditions and surfaces get complex. In the SUV-oriented 255/45 R19 test it created meaningful gaps in the wet: 52.3 m vs 60.1 m in wet braking (about 13% shorter) and higher wet handling speed (88.9 vs 83.8 km/h). It also led in dry handling (106.6 vs 103.6 km/h) and was called the most dynamic tyre on the gravel course, backing up that it's tuned for response and stability rather than comfort/value first.
The GitiSport S2+ is the smarter buy when price-to-performance matters most-and in 245/45 R19 testing it wasn't just “good for the money,” it was genuinely quick. It edged Bridgestone in both dry and wet braking by small but repeatable margins (34.3 vs 34.5 m dry; 27.2 vs 28.2 m wet in the braking test), ran slightly higher aquaplaning speeds in Autobild (94.5 vs 91.1 km/h straight aquaplaning), and was consistently quieter (71.7-71.8 dB vs 72.4-73.8 dB). Add the large value advantage (12.2 vs 16.39 price/1000 in Autobild) and the Giti makes a compelling case for everyday fast-road use-provided you're comfortable with the fact that in at least one major test format it fell to last place and was criticized for early wet sliding and limited wet reserves.
Practical takeaway: if you prioritise steering precision, high-speed composure and a bigger “safety buffer” when grip is variable, the Bridgestone is the premium, confidence-first choice (at a cost). If you want strong objective braking, low noise and standout cost efficiency in common road scenarios, the Giti is the value disruptor-but it's the tyre here with the bigger variability risk across test types and vehicle/size contexts.

Where this data comes from
Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tyres ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tyres can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
