Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 vs Imperial All Season Driver

This head-to-head pits Bridgestone's premium Turanza All Season 6 against the budget-focused Imperial All Season Driver. Across four shared professional tests spanning hatchback and SUV sizes, the Bridgestone consistently ranks at or near the top while the Imperial sits at the foot of the tables.
Expect decisive gaps in safety-critical metrics: the Bridgestone repeatedly stops shorter and holds grip better in the wet and snow, while the Imperial's advantages are limited to a quieter pass-by noise and, at times, marginally lower rolling resistance. If you drive through varied weather or frequent rain, the differences here are not just academic-they're measurable and meaningful.

Hi, I've done around 500km on new Turanza, mainly in city. I've got Mondeo mk4 1.6TDCI after chip. I've used previously Vredestein Quatrac Pro. I've have tested so far Bridgestone on the dry and wet in 20-5C. So far they more comfortable than Vredestein Quatrac Pro, noise is around the same (so they rather quiet tires - I've been using 225/50 R17 (not a standard Mondeo mk4, but similiar size (a bit bigger than standard 215/50R17 and smaller than next standard tire 235/45R18))). On dry Bridgestones are more gripper than Vredestein and on wet the are excellent compared to Vredestein. On Quatrac... Continue reading this review using the link below

Good tyres for the money. Dry grip is decent but you will find the limits quickly, wet grip is not the best but that's not what these tyres are about!
I didn't get to test them on snow but we did get icy roads with temps s low as -10 and that's were these tyre really came to life. While other cars struggled with the slippery conditions I was able to just sail by. I would definitely but them again

Conclusion

The Turanza All Season 6 dominates the objective data: 4/4 overall test wins and clean sweeps in dry and wet braking, aquaplaning resistance, and all snow disciplines. Typical gaps are large-around 15-20% shorter wet stopping distances and materially higher aquaplaning thresholds-translating to clear safety margins in real traffic. Dry performance is also stronger, with sharper handling and shorter stops, though Bridgestone can be a touch louder and sometimes carries higher rolling resistance.
Imperial's case rests on low price and quietness, but tests repeatedly flag extended wet braking, weak aquaplaning reserves, and only borderline snow capability. For most all-season buyers, the Bridgestone is the safer, more rounded choice and the better value once performance is weighed-especially in mixed climates. If cost and cabin quiet are absolute priorities in predominantly dry, mild conditions, Imperial can suffice, but it demands driving compromises.
Key Differences
  • Safety-critical wet braking: Bridgestone shorter by 18-20% in multiple tests (e.g., 43.9 m vs 54.8 m).
  • Aquaplaning resilience: Bridgestone holds notably higher straight and curved thresholds (+10-30%).
  • Snow performance: Bridgestone leads in braking, traction, and handling (often double-digit advantages).
  • Dry stopping: Bridgestone consistently shorter (e.g., 38.1 m vs 43.7 m; +13%).
  • Noise: Imperial is quieter by ~1-1.5 dB in SUV tests.
  • Efficiency: Rolling resistance mixed-Imperial occasionally lower; Bridgestone sometimes higher but also posts wins.

Footnote

This page has been developed using tyre industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tyres in the same test.

Why is this important? Tyre testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tyre test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tyre tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tyre Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tyre comparison, Tyre Reviews doesn't.
