The BEST High Mileage All Season Tyres in 2026 Tested P1 of 5

The Continental TrueContact Tour 54 is the winner of this test. It was best in test for wet braking, wet handling and dry handling, and it also took the highest subjective scores in both wet and dry, which tells you how easy it is to drive quickly. It never surprised me, it did whatever I asked of it while accelerating, braking or turning, and it shared the highest comfort score in the test. It was mid-field for straight aquaplaning and third of five in the snow tests, so it is not the choice for a very snowy climate, and although it is as cheap as anything here to buy, the shorter warranty on this size drops it towards the bottom on cost per warranted mile. If you want one tyre that is excellent at everything that happens on a road, this is it.

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 3 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The Continental TrueContact Tour 54 combines strong wet-road performance with composed handling and ride quality across three tests. It won the 2026 Tyre Reviews high-mileage all-season test, leading wet braking, wet handling and dry handling among five premium North American touring tyres, while sharing the highest comfort score. In Tire Rack’s November 2025 test it was second of six in its all-season class, with class-leading wet braking and wet handling. Testers repeatedly praised its direct steering and predictable behaviour, although Tire Rack wanted quicker recovery on wet surfaces.

Winter results are more modest: third of five for snow braking and traction at Tyre Reviews, with gaps of 12.9% and 27.9% to the best. Tire Rack found controllable winter performance, including second-in-class snow braking and handling in November 2025, but its broader mixed touring comparison was less favourable overall. Straight aquaplaning was midfield in the 2026 test, not a leading strength. Rolling resistance led that test, yet cost per warranted mile was fourth of five because of the shorter warranty in this size. That is a warranty-based cost measure, not measured tread life, and limits the running-cost claim despite its low purchase price.
