Performance Analysis
Drawn from 1 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.
The Cooper WeatherMaster WSC finished sixth of ten in the 2017 Autocenter Studded Winter Tyre Test, with wet braking its clearest strength. It stopped in 33.12 metres, second in the field and 3.9% behind the best, while the testers also praised wet grip and handling. Snow braking was closer to the middle of the field: fifth of ten at 17.73 metres, although that was only 1.7% longer than the shortest stop. Dry braking placed sixth at 31.76 metres, 2.6% behind the best. These results describe one test in 205/55 R16, rather than a pattern across several comparisons.
Ice performance was considerably weaker. Ice braking ranked ninth of ten at 14.75 metres, a 45.2% deficit to the best, and the testers criticised both ice grip and handling. Rolling resistance was last at 10.58 kg/t, 49.4% above the lowest figure. The relatively close snow and dry braking margins therefore sit alongside substantial weaknesses on ice and in efficiency. The wet-road results were encouraging within this studded winter field, but they did not translate into equally competitive performance in the more demanding ice disciplines.
