One of the cheapest tires on the market is the Snowleopard LX from Chinese Mazzini. It is notable by an unusually rough pattern. In addition to good aquaplaning properties, it provides good grip in the snow - in any case, starting grip and braking distance. The cornering grip, on the other hand, is far from the best, but the tire is honest and warn early on about the poor grip. On ice the grip is close to non-existing. The braking distance is long and it looses the grip early already at very low cornering speeds. In the dry, the steering feel is better than feared the open pattern considered, although in a crisis situation the tire can only turn in one direction. When you have to steer back, the pattern has folded and gives strong understeering. Loud road noise that grows to high pattern singing with light steering, cementing an already clear last place.

The Mazzini Snowleopard LX finished last of eight in the 2022 Vi Bilagare Nordic SUV Winter Tyre Test, despite competitive wet and snow braking. Wet braking was second at 37.3 metres, only 2.4% longer than the best, and snow braking also second at 11.16 metres, 2% behind. Straight-line aquaplaning placed third, 2.3% below the leading speed. The testers praised aquaplaning resistance and straight-line snow grip, although measured snow traction was a middle-ranking fifth. These findings come from one comparison in 235/55 R18.

Cornering and ice grip were much weaker. Snow handling was last, 6.1% slower than the quickest lap, while ice braking, traction and handling were all last, with deficits of 29.7%, 26.9% and 7.9% respectively. The write-up described early loss of ice grip and strong understeer when changing steering direction during an emergency manoeuvre. Subjective dry handling was also last, despite dry braking placing fifth with only a 3.5% gap. Road noise drew criticism for loud tread noise when steering, although the measured level was sixth of eight. Its short wet and snow stops therefore did not amount to balanced winter performance, with clear limitations in handling and on ice in this test field.
