Performance Analysis
Drawn from 3 tests. Updated October 29, 2026.
Weak wet braking is the recurring problem for the Royal Black Royal Winter UHP. Auto Bild measured a stopping distance 28.8% longer than the best in its 2025 winter braking test, and ranked it 49th of 50 in 2026, 50.6% behind the shortest stop. ADAC's 2026 test placed it 15th of 16 for wet braking and last for straight-line aquaplaning at 63 km/h. ADAC rated dry and wet safety poor and failed the tyre, with vague dry steering, oversteer in lane changes and early loss of grip on the wet handling course. Dry braking itself was less problematic, sixth of 16, but did not offset the handling weaknesses.
ADAC also found clear strengths in running costs: projected life was third at 55,600 km, wear cost first at EUR1.53 per 1,000 km, and fuel consumption and abrasion were lowest in the field. Ice braking was third, just 3% behind the best, though snow braking was only 13th of 16. Pass-by noise was loudest at 74.6 dB. The tyre therefore combines favourable projected life, fuel use and ice stopping performance with repeated wet-braking deficits; those economic strengths did not prevent a poor safety verdict and 15th-of-16 overall placing in the ADAC comparison.
