2025 Autobild SUV Winter Tyre Test
9th/13

The FALKEN Eurowinter HS02 Pro is presented as a "snow talent" that also manages to provide good performance on dry roads, all for an affordable price. However, its capabilities are severely compromised on wet surfaces, where it showed generally weaker performance. Testers described its straight aquaplaning resistance as "bereits kritisch" (already critical) and noted its weakness in both wet handling and curved aquaplaning tests.
2025 Studded, Friction and European Winter Tyre Test
4th/20
235/45 R18 • 2025
The Falken Eurowinter HS02 Pro performs like its competitors in the Central European friction class regarding ice and snow - the weakest side - with barely adequate winter performance. It performs well on snow, but struggles on ice. In other respects, it delivers mediocre performance where wet roads present the biggest problems despite this being supposedly the tyre's strong suit. Wet braking performs very well, but overall handling and behavior on wet surfaces doesn't match the class leaders. The stability and comfort are adequate but unremarkable. Aquaplaning performance is decent for the category. As a Japanese manufacturer with winter tyre production in Turkey, Falken has produced a tyre that represents the Central European friction compromise without excelling at any particular aspect. The middling performance across most categories means it lacks a compelling reason to choose it over better-performing alternatives. While the bare pavement performance is good, it's not outstanding enough to compensate for the winter weaknesses, leaving it as a mediocre all-around performer in a competitive field.

After my first winter of driving on them I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. It snowed quite a bit here compared to other years and despite the model not reviewing that well in snow conditions, it performed admirably, even in deeper snow. What really impressed me however was its dry and wet performance, it genuinely felt like a summer tyre no matter how cold it got.

Really solid tyres, I didn't expect them to be good through snow however they performed very well. But they're even better on dry and wet roads.

I am not a high performance driver. I am driving with 110-120 km/h maximum speeds in motorways with curves. Regularly under mild weather conditions during winter (-3 to +15 Celsius) sometimes rainy but never iced or snowy roads. I would recommend these tyres because of low price and extremely silent for a winter tyre. Cons are relatively high fuel consumption & possibility of bad wear. No idea about

Really happy with these tyres. Bought them a couple of months after release. Hands down better grip than my summer tyres (Fulda) on wet. Foot 80-90% to the ground, FWD, not even a single squeak or spin. Drove in very harsh rain, absolutely no issue, glides over water (not literally). Handles aquaplaning well. Honestly, noise wise is a bit higher than summer tyres, but it is what you expect. Comfort - it did not strike me as being bad, nor good, cannot comment really - maybe average. Overall - Highly Recommend, phenomenal bang for your buck.
