2023 Tyre Reviews Winter Tyre Test - 10th of 13 tyres

  • Positive - Good dry and wet handling, excellent aquaplaning resistance, very quiet and comfortable.
  • Negative - Long wet braking distances, limited performance in the snow, highest rolling resistance on test.
  • Overall - The Falken Eurowinter HS02 Pro struggled in the rolling resistance test, having the worst of the group, and wasn't the best in the snow either, but it was obviously much better than the summer tyre. It WAS good in wet and dry handling, and had great aquaplaning resistance. Perhaps not a bad winter tyre for somewhere like the UK that doesn't see much snow.

2023 AMS SUV Winter Tyre Test - 7th of 7 tyres

  • Positive - Good grip and largely safe, support-neutral driving dynamics in the wet. Very active and fast in dry corners. Very good comfort.
  • Negative - Too sensitive to load changes on snow and weak reserves: not enough for a winter tire. Narrow limit range for wet conditions, low protection against aquaplaning. Slow steering, less stable rear in fast corners. Downgraded by one grade.
  • Overall - Too weak on snow. The otherwise passable Falken has to be downgraded.

Given 94% while driving a Toyota CHR Hybrid (225/50 R18) on mostly town for 3,000 average miles
After my first winter of driving on them I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. It snowed quite a bit here compared to other years and despite the model not reviewing that well in snow conditions, it performed admirably, even in deeper snow. What really impressed me however was its dry and wet performance, it genuinely felt like a summer tyre no matter how cold it got.

Given 83% while driving a Volkswagen Tiguan (235/55 R17) on mostly motorways for 2,000 average miles
I am not a high performance driver. I am driving with 110-120 km/h maximum speeds in motorways with curves. Regularly under mild weather conditions during winter (-3 to +15 Celsius) sometimes rainy but never iced or snowy roads. I would recommend these tyres because of low price and extremely silent for a winter tyre. Cons are relatively high fuel consumption & possibility of bad wear. No idea about

Given 90% while driving a Citroën DS3 THP 150 (225/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
Really happy with these tyres. Bought them a couple of months after release. Hands down better grip than my summer tyres (Fulda) on wet. Foot 80-90% to the ground, FWD, not even a single squeak or spin. Drove in very harsh rain, absolutely no issue, glides over water (not literally). Handles aquaplaning well. Honestly, noise wise is a bit higher than summer tyres, but it is what you expect. Comfort - it did not strike me as being bad, nor good, cannot comment really - maybe average. Overall - Highly Recommend, phenomenal bang for your buck.
