Performance Analysis

Drawn from 2 tests. Updated October 28, 2026.

The Sumitomo BC100 was below midfield in both independent tests, with braking the recurring weakness. In the 2024 Auto Bild Summer Tyre Market Overview it finished 37th of 55 overall, with dry and wet braking both 38th. The dry stopping distance was 10.7% longer than the best and the wet distance 28.7% longer. In the 2019 Moottori Mid Range Tyre Test it placed seventh of eight overall, with dry braking seventh, 4.3% behind the best, and wet braking sixth, 8.3% behind. That smaller field consisted of midrange tyres, so the result was weak against its intended price category rather than just premium rivals.

Moottori also criticised low wet grip and an oversteering balance, without naming a positive. Wet handling was sixth of eight on time and seventh for subjective feel, while subjective dry handling was fifth. Straight-line aquaplaning resistance was a relative high point at fourth, but still 7.4% behind the best, so it was not a standout strength. Noise and rolling resistance both ranked sixth of eight. The two tests agree more clearly on braking limitations than on any particular benefit, and the single handling assessment also gives reason for caution about wet-road confidence.
