Bridgestone Dueler All Terrain AT002 vs General Grabber AT3

This head-to-head pits two popular all-terrain, all-season SUV/4x4 options against each other: Bridgestone's road-leaning Dueler All Terrain AT002 and General's more winter-capable Grabber AT3. Across two independent tests (ADAC 2025 and a 2024 multi-surface comparison), the tyres trade blows on-road and off-road, but diverge sharply in winter capability.

The AT002 consistently shines on paved surfaces with class-leading dry braking and strong aquaplaning resistance, while the Grabber AT3 delivers the better all-round package thanks to excellent snow performance, secure wet handling, and superior refinement. If you routinely see snow, the gap is meaningful; if you prioritize on-road stability and efficiency in mixed weather with minimal snow, Bridgestone fights back convincingly.

Early days yet but these are surprisingly quiet and comfortable on the road for what is a proper all-terrain tyre. A great alternative to the Yokohama G015, which is no longer available in the 195/80R15 size. They look really good, too.

Best Review for the General Grabber AT3
Given 97% 225/45 R17 on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
I use these both on and off the road. No really heavy off roading but up a lot of farm tracks and across grass. fields. I had Bridgestone Dueller ht684 but were not impressed with them. As soon as the Grabber AT3 were fitted the car was a lot more responsive, but above all they are a lot quieter and makes for a lot more comfortable ride on the road. I ran the Bridgestone's at 26psi as per the handbook but I run the Grabber's at 36psi as per tyre fitter recomendation. I am getting an extra 2-3 mpg since fitting these tyres.

Conclusion

Patterns across both tests are clear: the General Grabber AT3 is the safer year-round choice where winter matters, finishing 3/8 at ADAC versus the Bridgestone's 7/8 due to the AT002's pronounced snow deficit. In the 2024 test, General again ranked higher overall (3/7 vs 5/7) on the strength of snow braking (27.3 m vs 36.0 m), snow handling (+16%), and calmer manners (70.9 dB). Wet handling also favored General, though Bridgestone offset some of that with outstanding aquaplaning resistance.

Bridgestone's value lies in its road focus: best dry braking (42.3 m), sharper dry handling, stellar straight and curved aquaplaning margins (+11% and +21%), very low rolling resistance, and slightly better performance on gravel. For drivers rarely encountering snow who want crisp road behavior and efficiency, it's a strong pick. For mixed climates with regular winter use-and for those who value comfort and quiet-the Grabber AT3 is the more complete, confidence-inspiring option.
Key Differences
  • Snow capability: Grabber AT3 is vastly stronger; AT002 was weakest on snow at ADAC
  • Dry performance: AT002 stops shorter and feels sharper
  • Wet balance: Grabber handles better; AT002 resists aquaplaning better
  • Refinement: Grabber is quieter (~70.9 dB vs 72.9 dB) with better comfort
  • Efficiency: AT002 has lower rolling resistance
  • Off-road nuance: AT002 better on gravel; Grabber stronger in mud and sand

Footnote

This page has been developed using tyre industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tyres in the same test.

Why is this important? Tyre testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tyre test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tyre tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tyre Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tyre comparison, Tyre Reviews doesn't.
