Falken EUROWINTER HS02 Pro vs Linglong Sport Master Winter

This head-to-head pits two budget-leaning winter options with different missions: the Falken Eurowinter HS02 Pro, an ultra-high-performance winter tyre aimed at drivers who value precise road manners, and the Linglong Sport Master Winter, a touring-oriented choice prioritizing affordability and broad usability. Tested back-to-back across three major 2025 comparisons in 17-18-inch sizes, we have a clear dataset spanning dry, wet, snow, comfort, efficiency, wear, and value.
Across the shared tests, Linglong consistently stops shorter in the dry and wet and takes the overall positions in all three tests, while Falken counters with better wet handling balance, lower noise, and notably lower rolling resistance. Snow is the critical separator: Linglong generally brakes shorter and laps quicker on snow, whereas Falken shows isolated strengths in traction but lacks consistency. Value and wear further tilt toward Linglong, setting up a performance-versus-running-costs trade-off.

While it might look like the Linglong Sport Master Winter is better than the Falken EUROWINTER HS02 Pro purely based on the higher number of test wins, tyres are very complicated objects which means where one tyre is better than the other can be more important in real world use.

Let's look at how the two tyres compare across multiple tyre test categories.

Key Strengths

  • Class-leading rolling resistance in this pair (≈9.0-9.7 kg/t vs. 10.4-10.7 kg/t)
  • Consistently better wet handling and lateral grip (wet circle, handling wins)
  • Quieter and more refined ride (lower dB, higher comfort scores)
  • Occasional snow traction edge (notably in AE snow-traction test)
  • Shorter braking in dry, wet, and snow across tests (e.g., snow −2.7%)
  • Stronger aquaplaning resistance (straight and curved wins in AE)
  • Substantially better wear and lower purchase price (≈36% longer wear; strong value)
  • Better overall test rankings in all three shared comparisons

Best Review for the Falken EUROWINTER HS02 Pro
Given 94% 225/50 R18 on mostly town for 3,000 average miles
After my first winter of driving on them I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. It snowed quite a bit here compared to other years and despite the model not reviewing that well in snow conditions, it performed admirably, even in deeper snow. What really impressed me however was its dry and wet performance, it genuinely felt like a summer tyre no matter how cold it got.

Best Review for the Linglong Sport Master Winter
Given 80% 255/40 R19 on a combination of roads for 1,500 average miles
First impressions of the tyre are very satisfactory. They perform well on dry and wet roads. I haven't had a chance to test them on snow and ice yet. Comfort is good, but as expected, the tyres are noisy and the car consumes more fuel with winter tyres than with summer tyres.

At the time of purchase, the tyres were 3x cheaper than mid brands and even 5x cheaper than premium brands. That's why I decided to buy them and check whether it is necessary to buy expensive tyres for normal driving conditions and usual driving style. My conclusion is that Linglong sport master winter... Conclusion

Across multiple tests, Linglong Sport Master Winter takes the broader win: shorter braking in dry, wet, and especially snow; better aquaplaning resistance; stronger overall test placements; and a compelling price with longer projected mileage. For drivers prioritizing safety margins in mixed winter weather-including occasional emergencies on cold, damp, or snowy roads-Linglong's stopping advantage is the decisive factor.
Falken Eurowinter HS02 Pro appeals to those who want a more refined, sport-leaning winter feel: superior wet handling precision, lower noise, and meaningfully better rolling resistance. However, longer braking distances and weaker snow consistency limit its case in harsher winters. If you face frequent snow or rely on emergency stopping performance, choose Linglong. If your winters are milder with more rain than snow and you value steering feel and fuel efficiency, the Falken can still make sense.
Key Differences
  • Braking performance: Linglong consistently stops shorter on dry, wet, and snow (typically 1-3% gains; up to ~2.7% on snow).
  • Wet dynamics: Falken steers and grips better laterally (wet handling/circle wins).
  • Aquaplaning: Linglong edges straight and curved aquaplaning in AE; near-parity elsewhere.
  • Snow profile: Linglong wins snow braking/handling; Falken shows isolated traction wins but lacks consistency.
  • Refinement and noise: Falken is quieter and more comfortable.
  • Running costs: Falken has lower rolling resistance; Linglong has far better wear and purchase price, yielding lower total cost for most users.

Footnote

This page has been developed using tyre industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tyres in the same test.

Why is this important? Tyre testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tyre test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tyre tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tyre Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tyre comparison, Tyre Reviews doesn't.
