Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 vs Linglong Sport Master
Across eight shared professional tests in multiple sizes (from 205/45 R17 up to 245/45 R19), the pattern is consistent: Goodyear is the better all-rounder with stronger handling, aquaplaning resistance, efficiency and-crucially-far higher projected mileage. Linglong's story is narrower but important: it repeatedly delivers class-leading or near-leading wet braking (including 25.2 m vs 27.5 m in a 245/45 R19 braking shootout), which can be compelling if your priority is emergency stopping distance over broader dynamic performance and long-term costs.

Test Results
Independent comparison tyre tests are the best source of data to get tyre information from, and the good news is there have been eight tests which compare both tyres directly!
| Tyre | Test Wins | Performance |
|---|---|---|
| Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 | six | |
| Linglong Sport Master | two |
While it might look like the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is better than the Linglong Sport Master purely based on the higher number of test wins, tyres are very complicated objects which means where one tyre is better than the other can be more important in real world use.
Let's look at how the two tyres compare across multiple tyre test categories.
Key Strengths
- Consistently top overall rankings across large tests (e.g., 1/21, 2/20) with strong balance rather than one-trick performance
- Clear advantage in handling precision and controllability, especially dry (e.g., 113.8 vs 112.0 km/h in Sport Auto 2026; subjective dry 9 vs 6)
- Much higher projected mileage and better cost per km (e.g., 63,830 km vs 35,570 km in Auto Bild 2026; 54,020 km vs 22,570 km in Auto Bild 2025)
- Stronger efficiency and aquaplaning safety margins (wins rolling resistance and both straight/curved aquaplaning in every shared test where measured)
- Outstanding wet braking performance across multiple sources (wins wet braking in 5/8 shared tests; as low as 25.2 m in the braking shootout)
- Often competitive in pure braking even on dry in some tests (e.g., Auto Bild 2026: 33.9 m vs 34.5 m)
- Lower purchase price in reported tests (e.g., ~27% cheaper in Auto Bild 2023 and Sports Car 2023 contexts)
- Can deliver strong 'headline' safety metric results for emergency stops in wet conditions, sometimes best-in-test

Real World Driver Reviews
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 Driver Reviews
Drivers rate the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 very highly overall, most often praising its strong dry and especially wet grip, short braking distances, and predictable/progressive behavior near the limit. Many also report a comfortable, refined ride for a UHP tyre with good value versus Michelin/Continental rivals. The main recurring downsides are faster-than-expected tread wear for some users and noticeable roar/rumble on rough asphalt, with a smaller but repeated theme of softer sidewalls or slightly numb turn-in/understeer compared with sharper alternatives.

Linglong Sport Master Driver Reviews
Drivers report mixed results for the Linglong Sport Master. Positives center on good value with acceptable dry grip and adequate wet performance for daily use, plus notably low noise and comfort per some mid/high-scoring reviews. However, several low-scoring reviews cite poor handling confidence-especially in the wet-and one severe case of balance/vibration issues. Overall, it suits budget-focused, non-sporty driving but lacks consistent performance confidence.

I have now had the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5's, Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports, Michelin PS4 and even some Avon's (for a brief period) on my current car - a Golf GTI Clubsport 40.
I mix up my driving a lot - lots of motorway driving but also lots of hard street driving and B road blasts, I find it massively important to have the best tyres possible to allow me to push my car as hard as I can in a safe manner.
I was massively impressed with the Asymmetric 5's, the sheer grip... Continue reading this review using the link below
Conclusion
The Linglong Sport Master's headline advantage is wet braking. It beats the Goodyear in wet braking in 5 of 8 shared tests, sometimes by a meaningful margin (Auto Bild 2026: 39.3 m vs 42.9 m, an 8.39% advantage; braking shootout: 25.2 m vs 27.5 m, 8.36%). In isolation, that's a genuine safety-relevant win. The catch is that several reports describe a narrower, less predictable limit and slower steering response, and the tyre's long-term economics are undermined by dramatically lower wear life.
Value is where the comparison becomes decisive for most drivers: despite a higher purchase price, Goodyear's mileage advantage is enormous-roughly 54,020-63,830 km vs 22,570-35,570 km in Auto Bild data-so cost per distance strongly favors Goodyear (e.g., 6.66 vs 13.11 price/1000 km in Auto Bild 2025). The practical takeaway: Linglong can be a tempting “wet-stopper” on a tight upfront budget, but Goodyear is the tyre you choose when you want consistent dynamics, strong aquaplaning safety margins, and the lowest total cost of ownership over time.
Key Differences
- Overall consistency: Goodyear is near the top of group tests (e.g., 2/20 Auto Bild 2026) while Linglong is typically mid-to-lower pack despite standout braking (e.g., 16/20 Auto Bild 2026; 12/13 Sports Car 2023)
- Wet braking: Linglong frequently stops shorter in the wet (e.g., 39.3 m vs 42.9 m in Auto Bild 2026; 25.2 m vs 27.5 m in the braking shootout), but this doesn't translate into better overall wet performance
- Handling and limit behavior: Goodyear shows more precise steering and higher dry/wet handling speeds, while Linglong is often described as sluggish with a narrower, harder-to-manage limit range
- Aquaplaning resilience: Goodyear repeatedly leads straight and especially curved aquaplaning (e.g., +17.46% curved aquaplaning in Auto Bild 2026), a key real-world wet-safety factor beyond braking
- Wear/total cost: Goodyear's projected mileage is dramatically higher (e.g., 63,830 km vs 35,570 km; 54,020 km vs 22,570 km), making it cheaper per km despite higher purchase price
- Efficiency/refinement: Goodyear generally delivers lower rolling resistance and lower measured noise, improving economy and comfort over long use

Footnote
This page has been developed using tyre industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tyres in the same test.
Why is this important? Tyre testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tyre test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tyre tests performed on different days or at different locations.
As a result you will see other tests on Tyre Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.
Lots of other websites do this sort of tyre comparison, Tyre Reviews doesn't.
