Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 vs Linglong Sport Master 4S

Goodyear's Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 and Linglong's Sport Master 4S take very different routes to all-season performance. Across four shared 2025 tests in compact, sports-saloon and SUV sizes, Goodyear consistently finishes higher overall (4th/5th/5th/4th vs. Linglong's 9th/8th/10th/6th), powered by dominant wet control, aquaplaning resistance and clear winter capability. Linglong, meanwhile, leans into summer-like manners with standout dry stopping and agreeable comfort at a value price.

Test Results

Independent comparison tyre tests are the best source of data to get tyre information from, and the good news is there have been four tests which compare both tyres directly!

Summary of four total tests comparing both tyres directly

Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3four
four wins

While it might look like the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 is better than the Linglong Sport Master 4S purely based on the higher number of test wins, tyres are very complicated objects which means where one tyre is better than the other can be more important in real world use.

Let's look at how the two tyres compare across multiple tyre test categories.

Key Strengths

  • Class-leading wet handling and aquaplaning reserves (e.g., +5-12% straight aqua, frequent wins)
  • Consistently superior snow performance across braking, traction and handling (often 10%± gains)
  • Balanced, predictable dynamics with good subjective control and comfort
  • Generally lower rolling resistance than Linglong in 3 of 4 tests
  • Excellent dry braking across all tests (e.g., 10% shorter in multiple sizes)
  • Competitive dry handling pace with strong subjective comfort
  • Respectable wet braking in some tests for the price
  • Value-focused proposition that nears mid-pack premiums in mild climates

Almost time to switch back to my summer tyres. So, here’s my impression of my “mild climate winter” tyres. I used to drive on Continental WinterContact TS860 winter tyres, but last winters, I noticed that I almost never drive on snow. And in spring and fall, when temperatures jump up and down, I was sometimes driving on my winter tyres at temperatures around 20°C. So now, I followed your advice and chose All Season tyres for the winter season. I drove them for about 6.000 km now in temperatures between -2 and +16 °C, in the dry and in lots of rain.

Conclusion

The pattern is clear: Goodyear is the safer, more rounded all-season, especially when conditions deteriorate. It repeatedly leads wet handling and aquaplaning (straight-line margins up to ~12%) and outperforms decisively on snow across braking, traction and handling (often 6-15% advantages), earning higher overall rankings and accolades. Its trade-offs are longer dry braking and occasionally higher rolling resistance, but its control in the wet and on snow makes it the dependable year-round pick.
Key Differences
  • Dry braking: Linglong consistently stops shorter (≈8-11% advantage).
  • Wet control: Goodyear dominates wet handling and aquaplaning (straight aqua up to +12%).
  • Winter performance: Goodyear is clearly superior on snow in every metric and size.
  • Overall results: Goodyear places 4th-5th vs. Linglong's 6th-10th; Goodyear earns higher recommendations.
  • Comfort/noise: Linglong often slightly quieter and subjectively comfier; Goodyear rides well but not the softest.
  • Efficiency: Goodyear usually posts lower rolling resistance; Linglong trends higher, impacting economy.

Footnote

This page has been developed using tyre industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tyres in the same test.

Why is this important? Tyre testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tyre test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tyre tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tyre Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tyre comparison, Tyre Reviews doesn't.
