Data updated
Which should you buy?
Choose the Kumho WinterCraft WP52 plus for more dependable wet-weather braking and stronger snow traction overall, especially if winter conditions are a regular concern. The Linglong Sport Master Winter is a budget-focused alternative for milder regions, but its weaker snow performance in some tests makes it harder to recommend where snow and ice are common.
Where the WinterCraft WP52+ is stronger
- Wet 11/11 Stopped 5.3% shorter in the wet (4 tests)
- Snow 6/8
- Ice 1/1
- Value 5/7 Lasted 15.7% longer in the wear tests (3 tests)
Where the Sport Master Winter is stronger
- Often competitive on dry roads: it had the shorter dry-braking distance in ADAC and Auto Bild, though the margins were small.
- Strong value credentials: AvD named it the price-performance winner, and Auto Bild found it among the cheapest per kilometre.
- Placed third in the ADAC test, ahead of the Kumho in that size and test, with satisfactory dry and wet performance.
The measured tallies (wins out of measurements in the shared tests) come straight from the tables below. The written verdict and bullet points are analysis of those tests and of owner reviews; where they and the figures disagree, the figures are right.

Braking distances and lap times are better when lower; speeds, wear and grip figures when higher. A test's figures are its own: sizes, cars, surfaces and temperatures differ from one to the next, which is why the averages here are only ever of tests the two tyres shared. "Scored" rows are subjective driver ratings: each test uses its own scale, so only the wins are counted.

All 6 WinterCraft WP52+ reviewsI bought these after looking at the tests. They offer performance close to premium tires while being very affordable. That's actually the reason I chose this tire. If you don't have extreme winter conditions where you are, you can go for this tire. If the winter conditions are bad, Barum might be a good alternative since it's still reasonably priced.

All 4 Sport Master Winter reviewsDrove them one winter on really heavy snow in the moutains no problem at all the snow grip was really impresive even against some premium tires. I had no problems never got stuck even when i was trying to get stuck i saw many people with premium tires and same awd having trouble but not with this ones. The only problem is Wear I think if ur winter is mild and temp are high the tires will melt away. About to mount them for this winter to see did they change after 1 year.

Reading the results
Written from the test results and owner reviews above. It is analysis, not a measurement: where it and the tables disagree, the tables are right.
The Kumho WinterCraft WP52 plus and Linglong Sport Master Winter are both passenger-car winter tyres, but their test results point to different priorities. Across four shared tests, the Kumho generally delivers the stronger all-round safety case, particularly in wet braking and aquaplaning resistance, while the Linglong often performs well on dry roads and is attractive on price.
Conclusion
The Kumho finished ahead in three of the four shared tests, with particularly consistent wet-braking results: it stopped shorter than the Linglong in all four comparisons, including 37.5 m versus 40.6 m in the 2026 braking test. It also showed stronger snow traction and aquaplaning resistance in the detailed tests. Its wear results were usually favourable, though not uniformly so, and it has weaknesses of its own: ADAC criticised its dry handling, and AvD noted weaker curved-aquaplaning performance.

Where this data comes from
Finishing positions and measurements are transcribed from each published test. A test only counts here when both tyres ran in it, so every figure was recorded on the same car, size and day as the one it is compared to.
About the TR Score
The Tyre Reviews Score rates each tyre out of 10 from every independent test result and vetted owner review we hold, so two tyres can be compared even before a test has run them together.
Who does the testing
Every test published as a Tyre Reviews test is run by Jonathan Benson, who has been testing tyres independently since 2007.
