2025 Autobild Crossover SUV All Season Test P8 of 10

The Maxxis Premitra All Season AP3 SUV positions itself as a rain king, boasting large aquaplaning reserves that inspire confidence in heavy downpours. Unfortunately, this tyre is overall weaker on snow and records the highest rolling resistance among all candidates, which diminishes its fuel-saving potential. The elevated rolling resistance represents a hidden ongoing cost that offsets some of the initial purchase price savings.

Performance Analysis

Drawn from 4 tests. Updated October 29, 2026.

The Maxxis Premitra All Season AP3 SUV combines repeatedly praised aquaplaning resistance with consistently high rolling resistance. It led straight aquaplaning in the 2024 Auto Bild Allrad test and curved aquaplaning in the 2025 Tyre Reviews SUV test, which rated it Recommended and fifth of seven overall. Dry handling was third of eight and wet handling earned the best subjective rating there, although wet braking was only fifth of eight. Rolling resistance was last of seven, 27.1% above the best, and also last of 12 in the 2025 Auto Bild Sportscars test.

Several results were unusual. The 2021 Auto Bild Allrad test praised straight aquaplaning reserves, yet measured only ninth of 12 straight and 11th in curves, unlike the later leading results. Snow traction and braking were both second of eight at Tyre Reviews in 2025, but the same year Sportscars recorded 11th of 12 in traction and tenth in braking, handling and slalom. Snow handling was also imprecise at Tyre Reviews, ranking seventh of eight. Comfort shared the best rating at Sportscars, contrasting with average comfort at Tyre Reviews and limited comfort at Allrad in 2024. Dry braking was third of 14 in that 2024 test, but understeer and wet stopping distances recur as limitations.

The Maxxis Premitra All Season AP3 SUV performed great in the dry, great in the wet though was a little down in wet braking, and while it wasn't the best in snow handling, it certainly started and stopped really well. It lacked a little in comfort, and its rolling resistance was pretty high, but otherwise a good performance overall.
